Waiting for AHRC news

M

It seems the 5 day rule is spot on! Well done Mr-Hyde!

B

Congrats Mr-Hyde! Nice to hear some more good news. I'm so used to feeling anxious about all of this that my thoughts are already drifting towards the possibility that my parents might have misread the letter offering me internal funding and given me some wrong information...

Its amazing how much the wait gets to you. On the 31st of July I was waltzing around without a care in the world, but by the 2rd of August I'd degenerated into a shivering shipwreck of a man afraid of his own letterbox.

I love the waiting room pic!

P

I forgot to say congrats also!!

G

Congrats Mr-Hyde! Need therapy... Am gibbering wreck...

S

Congrats Mr Hyde!!!!!!!!!! Really really pleased for you! Yes, the 5 day rule is working nicely isn't it.

Lol, yes, I remember the good old days when I didn't nearly collapse in a jibbering mass every time I saw a postman - they were good days..... I mean, I've never much enjoyed visits from the postman, they normally bring bills and nasty letters saying I'm broke - but now... he has become a figure similar to Freddy Kruger!

G

My postman looks like Jeremy Beadle. Quite disturbing,I keep imagining secret cameras monitoring my reaction when I open the evil letter. Perhaps there will be millions of people watching their televisions and laughing at me... Maybe I should practice my expression in the mirror in preparation. The Oscar loser expression maybe good, you know the one that says 'I'm not bothered, couldn't care less...'

S

Lol GoingNuts! Yes, practice that expression, spoil their fun!

I live in a little village and our postman is your classic 50s postman who knows everyone and what they're doing. He knows what I'm waiting for cos hubby told him () I'm half expecting him, when he sees a letter emblazoned with the ARHC logo to knock on the door and hand it to me then stand their expectantly waiting for me to open it - dream on... I'm not sure he'd be prepared for me to drop to the floor howling and tearing at my clothes

H

my parents just rang and told me I got it. Good luck to everyone else here. Its been a pleasure.

S

Oh Wow!!!!!!!!!!! that's 2 in one day - woohooooooooooo CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!

Tell us the news - what panel (sorry, I'm sure you said but can't remember) and when was it posted?

So so happy for you - at last a run of good news!

G

2 is an avalanche of good news... Hope it continues!

M

Well done to the three with good news! Let's hope there's more on its way...

M

I'm waiting for panel 2 results - film studies. Anyone else heard in a similar area? Have already convinced myself that because someone else on this forum had a successful panel 2 bid that because I haven't heard I won't have got it!

S

mellyd, there is no rhyme or reason to the order in which letters are sent out. People hear right through to Sept - hopefully this year it will be quicker, but who knows. Don't worry about it from that angle, it may simply be that your particular area of Panel 2 hasn't been sent out yet.

B

Yeah - don't worry. If there's anything to learn from these forums its that its not worth second guessing how the AHRC go about organising anything. For all we know, its just one person trying to throw randomly selected letters into envelopes from across a room.

W

hjscotland is panel 8 RPM, like me. thats why i am now even more nervous than before.
