Ahhhh thats good news. I'm fortunate in having a good backup if I don't get funding, but I'd still really really like to know how my application has gone. Hopefully I'll be hearing from them sometime this week! I must say, its rather tempting to phone. Did you just ring and ask them if it had been generated yet, or do I need a good reason to prise the information out of them?
the real question is why letters?!
why not send an email, or have a computer verify every result before it's electronically sent out?!
I can't believe there are people stuffing envelopes in an office somewhere, only to have people down the factory line unstuffing them and checking each and every one before sticking a 2nd class stamp to it...
No BobNic, don't worry about making up a story they don't mind telling you if your letter's been generated. I agree soarous this whole process is ridiculous, email would have been the best and simplest option. I'm aware that there are reserve lists for offers not taken up but this would only concern a small minority of applicants so really there are no excuses.
Altogether now... 'Why are we waiting....' - you know the rest!
I just rang up and my letter has not been generated yet. I applied for the doctoral panel 7 in music composition, and I know someone who was successful in the same category. Not sure what to make of that but I guess I have a few more days of waiting yet.
I'm scared that they'll deny they've even had a application from me! I know I'll be one of the last - I always am! Such is my luck ;)
Called them - didn't get the same response as you guys. Was told they can't tell me over the phone but I should hear by the end of next week.
:-(
I feel even worse now.
Yes it seems to depend very much on who answers the phone when you call. Last year I phoned up on the 23rd of August and they wouldn't tell me anything, so I've been too scared to ask this year. In any case, I actually got my rejection letter that very same day.
I'm going mad.
I might have said the wrong thing. I said I had a question about my PPM application and they asked me which university I'm applying for. Then I was put through to someone who told me that they wouldn't give any information out, except that I should get it by next Friday. Maybe I should have asked the person who answered outright.
I could cry. I am so frustrated. I think I have finally reached the end of my tether.
