Not entirely sure where this £30K figures comes from. I know of 3 people (OK, its a small sample) who have become new lecturers in the past 12 months (UCLan, Manchester Met and Leeds Met) in Computing Departments. ALL started on £24K. Advertisements may contain top end figures like £30K, but the actual reality appears (from what I'm told) somewhat different. Other may have different 'actual' examples?

Most of us wouldn't but how often does that happen. Most starting salaries (I'm informed) are much lower.

Funding for Masters study is pretty thin on the ground (fullstop). I believe technically you're considered as a non-UK national (did you live elsewhere in the EU?) so if there is monies available you quite possibly won't be eligible for it - much (MUCH) harder therefore to answer your question. Someone doing a PhD had a similar problem. It may be an idea to search that forum.

This is predominantly a UK based forum. You'd be better advised to find the German equivalent.

I personally find it easier writing to a fairly detailed plan (indeed I was taught to do so at Master's level). Its easier to get your ideas in order, and for me removes a bit (lot) of the mental burden. That said I am aware of some really 'clever b***ers' who can write wonderful stuff off the top of their heads.

Sounds a bit like a 'procrastination issue' that you're expecting a perfect first draft? Do you write off a plan (out of interest) or just go with the mental flow?

What we could do with here (in general) is a procrastination tips thread. Often people have some very good ideas (I liked the 'diary idea' of someone's a little while ago, where you write down everything you have done in the day) that could be beneficial to all us procrastinators out there.
