I m getting really intolerant (more than normal) of such questions. You'd think as we're all (in theory) pretty clever people, the questions would have a modicum of intelligence to them.

A Google search that took me literally 5 seconds produced numerous hits. After saying that, I really wouldn't bother if I were you. To successfully complete an MBA requires a certain amount of 'get up and go'. Something that you seemingly LACK in abundance.

Well yes DoingPhD I understand your reasoning. That said, when you come to look for an academic job you'll know doubt come up against PhD's who 'do' have a similar publications record to you, but who also went to a 'glamourous' University. In those cases, I would imagine a good big 'un beats a good little 'un every time (other things being equal).

No 'informed' advice, but I would imagine that is going to be a really tough ask at present.

'Thames Valley University' doesn't sound too bad to me. The extremely academically challenged Blackpool and the Fylde College is lobbying (apparently quite successfully) the DoE for University status.

As an aside, I'd be very interested to see some figures as to how many (successfully completed) PhD's actually end up in their chosen profession/job of choice, be it in education or otherwise.
