Does anyone else struggle??
G

Occasionally I bump into some bast*** who finds this PhD process a veritable walk in the park. I have to exercise considerable self-restraint from doing them considerable physical harm. Yes in my case, and indeed for many people based on this forum. YOU ARE NOT ALONE.

Probabaly the best thing to do [IMO] is download a PhD style guide that goes through all this sort of stuff [eg. widows and orphans, etc..].

Thats nice of them really. My place are very prescriptive, which can be a bugger if you find double spaced in courier anything but.

Are you talking about for your final product? Are there internal Uni guidelines for this you can refer to?

PhD question from a scot
G

I'm interested how you deduce he's not a real Scot? And if he is, what's wrong with saying so? Surely it's his/her business isn't it?

Funding for MSc Courses?
G

Just an indirect point. You can never go bankrupt on a CDL. If its a straight choice between a CDL and another source of finance, factor that it.

Anyone with two PhDs?
G

There was some foreign guy who posted a while ago who wanted to do two concurrently. I suppose if you have the money [there was a chap at UCLan who had 5 degrees and 3 masters] anything is possible, but what would the point be. I can think of better hobbies to pass the time.

Not trying to start an argument at all but...

'The chances are that the 'HATE going into work every day' PhD brigade would hate going into ANY work everyday'.

Thats a tremdously sweeping statement isn't it?

'academia IS as fun as work gets'

Wow there another.

Sorry, but statements like that get my goat a little.

Back to my point, a little read through the forum will soon inform you that the general mood of the average PhD student is rather 'doom and gloomy'. I think thats what I was trying to get accross rather clumsily [obviously].

Danny..thought it might be that field.

Robber...its not the wages [we all know they're very average] it was the 'HATE going into work every day'. That could have been written about a LOT of PhD students on here. You follow? If you don't read back a month or two and you will.

You don't read this Forum much do you Robber?

Massive wages? I've got to ask...what field are you in? You obviously don't intend to be an academic.
