Marketing is a really tough school to get into lecturing wise. You will be expected to have considerable 'hands on' experience in industry plus [probably] a PhD. That is unless you've undertaken considerable work with a big time agency. Not trying to rain on anyones parade. Have a look at the Lecturing job ads in the THES, they usually detail suchlike.

Also bear in mind that the IT industry in the UK is suffering big time. Is it worth while getting better qualified in the subject area when job prospects are so poor.

I used a personal one, but I'm a mature student so other factors came into play. Do you think one of yours will provide an unfavourable reference, hence the query?

I personally don't think that’s accurate. I am informed that studying at one University throughout is still frowned upon in certain circles. I personally wasn't inclined to chance any career repercussions down the line, and was accordingly willing to make certain sacrifices. Others aren't. Ultimately, it’s a personal choice.

I was similarly advised that if I wanted a career in academia, it would be better to gain qualifications frm a variety of institutions. I undertand your reasons inductible, but it does somewhat yes [IMO], unless of course we are talking a top 6 Uni in your field?
