Nothing wrong with a bit of [fair] argy-bargy on here is there. Be a boring old world if we all agreed. Apparently I'm [informed I am ] a natural born complainer. I even formally complained in writing re my MSc after getting a distinction. I'm a big believer in saying if you don't like something.

Thank you Pea for your good wishes. They are appreciated.

Lancashire Evening Post pea.

Going back to what Sue said I do tend to percieve the BBC as anti-Israel. I thought that was a commonly held view? In this particular instance I see Sky as offering the most balalnced opinion.

As an aside I used to get the Independent free at my leisure club. It got to the point I'd rather pay for the Times than read the Independent free. It wasn't the political leanings [eg. let everyone into the country that wants etc.] that I didn't like. It was just that it was so badly written. The again the LEP has trouble with spelling certain words [difficult ones like business].

Now that’s strange [and interesting] isn't it. Of all the channels I tend to perceive the BBC as the most anti-Israeli.

That's as may be. Watching the stuff on TV and listening on radio I personally have to say the coverage appears very fair. Where do you think it is unfair/biased Pea as I can't see it? I'm absolutely respect your expereince but I'm interested in your take on this.

A few days ago I was accused of being misinformed/ naive / stupid [take your pick really] due to my quoting the media re this situation. Apparently the 'media' are pro-Israeli and not to be trusted as they slant coverage.

I've been watching the news closely and have to say I can't see this slant [at all]. I would say the coverage I've been watching is VERY even-handed [or even pro-Lebanon and Hezbollah]. I'm talking re Sky News, BBC news, Radio 4. What do others think re this?

'i feel pity for the innocent wherever they are!'

Thats what we call over hear as dodging the question.

If it makes you happy then by all means. Be aware as you imply that’s probably all its doing. I'm not entirely sure that there is a great degree of public interest [or sympathy] in this situation, which is suprising. I think this may link back to 7/7.

I was hoping the opposing viewpoint was pretty obvious. It's been in the media enough. The has to be some realisation that the Lebanon by allowing [arguably actively supporting] a terrorist organisation to operate military actions from within its boundaries is partly responsible for what is presently happening too it. Also it would be nice if there was some acknowledgement that by the kidnapping of the two Israeli soldiers Hezbollah in fact precipitated this conflict. Finally, perhaps anger could be directed equally at Hezbollah by the fact that they steadfastly refuse to release said soldiers and are hence exasperating this situation. Balance.

Perhaps you should try then and inject a little balance into your viewpoint of the situation? You appear completely unwilling to even consider this from an opposing viewpoint, which on a forum such as this is very suprising.
