PhD Part Time
G

I have been a part time student for 34 months and have arranged, with my supervisor's and DofS agreement my defence for either March or April 2006. First draft waiting comments. It really depends how well your research goes and how much work you are prepared to do at the weekends and in the evenings. There is usually a 'get out' clause in the regs about research going exceptionallly well and early submission. One of my friends completed theirs in 39 months. Good luck, and keep at it.

A recent survey showed that people from Sheffield have the largest calf muscles in the country, with an average circumference of 16 inches (measured at the centre of the muscle). This is apparently due to the many hills in the city, and the Full Monty dance, which works these basic leg muscle groups.

S, I think someone other 'S' has replied to your message. Anyway I appreciate your help. By the way, did the supervisors make you feel comfortable ie were they nice?

Hi S. Thanks for your advice. You know one of the things that always get in the way for me is "nervousness" Where you nervous during you interview and how did you deal with that?

Excited
G

To Barry B. I have started to prepare; but its just refreshing my knowledge of molecular/cellular biology. I have also re-read a few references that were given to me before my interview.
To all, dont feel that you are "sad" or a "moron" i think its great and we will need all of the enthusiasm we can get for the next 3 years according to others

Hello all from Italy. I would like to know this: what is the average age in which students in UK finish university? for example in Italy students usually start university at 19, they get their first degree (3 Years) at 24-25, then the second Degree (2 years after the first 3) at 26-27 and
then start the PhD (these are average values just published in an Italian Journal) What does it work in UK? Thanks to all.

How do you find out a supervisor is good
G

I'm with reena - if you know your subject area you should know who is good. Who wrote the articles/publications that really stand out, not just in the field but in terms of what your ideas are?
