Team.... I am finishing my MSc but it looks like I am gonna have to retake one exam on January to complete it fully. Shall I wait until I finish the MSc completely first and then start a PhD? I think I can prepare for the exam in about two weeks... Thank you

However, I know studentships are not always easy to come by and if you really want to make a go of this project then I suggest that you try to tailor it to your interests as far as possible. All the best and good luck.

Hi Kady, Anon’s reply was perhaps a bit flippant but he/she does have a point. If you are just beginning this PhD it might be worth trying to find something else more in line with your interests. PhD research is very tough and sometimes it's hard to be motivated even when you love your subject. If you're really not interested in this topic you may find the next few years extremely difficult.

The best you should do is withdraw. It makes no sense spending three valuable years on something that is of no interest to you. Maybe, you can try playing soccer.

I am finding it increasingly difficult to put a research proposal together. I am not working in my area of study or interest and feel quite lost and out of touch. I have tried to keep abreast but that doesnt seems to help.

You can do PhD in the areas you mentioned. But be seriuos with your academic work and also try and do some part-time work to save some money. You need to register some amount of money to start a PhD, once you are in the system you can struggle for funding in your school. You need very good first and second degrees to get funding for PhD in UK. I completed a comparative studies in Univ of Oslo and now over half way in PhD in London. Best Wishes
