Ignore anon german, they always seem to dismiss our arguements without considering the point we are trying to make.

Anon german, I think you have fallen into the trap of the point we're trying to make ! The information is posted over and over endlessly on here but instead of reading it and taking note, they start another pointless thread that is usually quite vague. Same as you don't seem to have read we've already said why we're annoyed !

Feeling So Down!
G

I was excited when Strathclyde NA-ME dept invited me for PhD interview. Since am far (Pakistan) I requested for telephonic one, they said not possible!. I made arrangements to travel and told them am coming. Recent earthquake ripped my family apart and I simply could not go...I called the prof. requesting a weeks delay, explaining my situation. which was turned down saying ''we are sorry''.

I feel like a looser right now and think I should quit dreaming bout PhD.

No complains!, just sharing for others to be considerate...when able or in the capacity to do so!

Depends if you're UK student. The research councils produce a list of masters they fund, so will tell you which unis and what the courses are. From that you can then probably make enquiries to the relevant places. Look at BBSRC website probably first.

It never hurts to ask to be honest. I usually just buy my own paper and pens and then use my grant to ask for books.

hey there-thanks for the reply.but (stu) what projects exactly do you mean?

Surely it will depend on multiple factors? Someone starting their PhD straight after their first degree has less research experience than someone who has done relevant work for several years before starting a PhD. Also it will depend on the project, some projects don't produce results until the end. As Anon German has suggested, it will also depend on the field.
