I want to do a PhD in statistics. So I went out, applied to universities, went to interviews, went through a long process of waiting and got myself an offer with funding.

It also depends on what your masters is in. A lot of what you said above doesn't really apply in science masters. If you did publish as a masters student, you must be damn clever in our field.

I am a veterinary research officer Attached to the Veterinary Research Institute of Sri Lanka. I have completed my MSc locally and published 2 papers and 18 abstracts locally and internationally. As we don't have facilities to conduct PhD studies locally I need to find a Foreign PhD on Animal Nutrition (especially on monogastric nutrition)

I only know about academic technical posts. most ask for a a "relevant degree" so i don't think the subject will make much difference to pay. A broad biological sciences degree would cover the most areas. I suggest you check out the recruitment pages of unis, hospitals and biotechs to see what they are looking for.

Don't worry about it! we have an older post-doc who has only just started and he is way older than 42!!
