Hi. I've heard that NewRoute PhD gives you "teaching assistant", if you can use this opportunity and also, NewRoute takes four years. So, does the normal one contain "teaching assistant" like this? The difference between both of them is about time and assistant, that's all?

Unfortunately, In my spare time I go to some libararies for completing my thesis :(

I used to live in Nottingham (did my BSc and MSc there).

My stipend is much more than that anyway. So I don't care...

But i like to know what they ask in the interview as I am now a days applying for PhD to all over EU :-D but still waiting for some calls even for the interviews.

But the main problem is that i have to send my applications forms and i have to be sure that can get the PhD Studies option since all universities are putting lot of stress over the research proposal: Now who should i discuss the matter.

21 and starting in 2 weeks!

I've just started a 4 year PhD and celebrated my 44th birthday last week... I've heard various stories about difficulties getting post-docs because of age, then again my supervisor and other academics I've spoken to have said it shouldn't be a problem... As Mr. Blair plans to raise the UK retirement age to 70 you'd be much less than half-way through your working life!

The minimum stipend is going to go from £12,000 this year 05/06 to £12,300 next year 06/07. The smallest annual rise in years; a whole +£25 extra a month! Call me greedy, but I was hoping for more....
