To all in this message board, what I feel is that we all sail in the same boat. Most of them in the PhD message board are either anxious to get admission or worried with their project. It's not necessary that everyone should know everything, so there should be some platform where people can express their query clearly and this one is the best. So I don't feel any of these questions or answers are absurd.

Hi all. I am persuing the Masters in IT in Italy. Now profs of the university want me to join PHD program dealing with "Real Time Systems". I am confused wht to do now as join the PHD for 3 years or join any company. Wht may be the Value of PHD from Italy ?

Hello, as it too late fo apply for funding to any research council or institution I realized I have to search for a sponsor in the private sector and industry. However get in contact with private companies is not easy, can you please advice me on the correct approach?My research is based on marine pollution anf effects therefore I ve started to search for companies involved in the sector.

America has more Universities and more fundings.More importantly, USA has a better atmosphere to do research.
Why do not you go there?

You can easily get full scholarship if you go to America to do a PhD in natural science

anon, what problems are you having with your supervisor?

I've been having a similar problem, not with my supervisor but with a postdoc in the lab. I considered quitting but that would have been a waste of my talents. So, how would you go around changing supervisors if that is possible?

Cathy, in view of the fact that this is indeed meant to be a place of information exchange, it isn't a small matter at all - that's the whole point!

Thought I would ask as I am still having problems with mine 1 year in. Have spoke to him several times - things get better for a bit and then he goes back to normal. So would like to know whether changing was a positive or negative experience and if it was easy to do. Also if you kept the same project.
