I have written to several supervisors in my field enquiring about a studentship. None of them have replied. Not even with a refusal. Is this normal behaviour on part of supervisors?

Does anyone know if any university offers a part time Phd in Management or Business Psychology type area. I undertook an M.Sc part time over a few years, my work allows me to be flexible in that I could spend quite a bit of time on the research or at the university but not full time.

Redbaron, do you not think that it's a bit naive to suggest that attending a 'higher calibre' university so that you could study alongside people who were highly motivated etc. would result in your getting a better class degree than you were awarded at your university? It really doesn't work like that!

A Phd is more than that I'm afraid. The passion for research has to be there!

last week i had (what I thought was) an absoloutly dreadful general(ie not for a specific project weirdly) board interview at UCL, but at the end the main interrogator told me outside to phone him if I had any more questions and drop him a line if I was still interested. I was also given some papers to look at by a second interviewer on a possible project. I am at a loss. Was i being offered a PhD if i could get a proposal together that suited them, or was it just to test the waters to give me a proper interview later? Any ideas/ experiences of totally confusing supervisors?

Can i ask advice from any i international students who were sucessful at applying for PhD positions? I have a chemical engineering degree with an option in bioporcess and i have participated in numerous molecular biology research postions, hence my desire for a PhD in a Biology field. My gpa is 3.07/4.00, is that what is hindering me, or is it my field of study? what should i do to improve my application? Sorry if these questions hav ebeen asked before, zero acceptances at this point is making me anxious.Thank you

Hi, I just would like to check the English equivalent to a Spanish 5 years degree in Molecular Biology and Biotechnology. The first three years are the same for all the biology students. After those you have two years of studies in the area that you choose. Is possible that this 5 years programme counts as an English BSC (three years)+ a MSc?????
