Wait a minute... Can I apply (as EU national) to almost any position? This is good news. I thought that projects marked EU meant that the university covers course fees only and that UK meant it wasn't even worth trying. It would be a very nice surprise if this is not the case, so please tell me what is right.

DIfferent topic - same field

Hi - in my experience (and I'm from Arts, so this may not be relevant), they let you "tailor" your PhD to your own interests, I guess so that you keep your interest levels up, and not quit the project, especially if it's quite similar. It's probably best talking to the supervisor of the project though as they will know what exactly they want from the project, and if "tailoring" to suit your needs is possible.

I have been looking for a PhD in electrical power, renewable energy e.t.c for a couple of mounths. There are thousand of opportunities for funding for native UK students but very few for EU.Do they believe that English can make better research from other EU students? If yes, well, that is what I call a challenge.

I am currently doing a PhD in the UK and both my masters and my bachelors are also non-UK. Especially if your country/university has a good reputation, it will definitely not count against you.

MRC funding transfer

Hi,I'm a first year PhD student with departmentally awarded MRC funding. My supervisor has taken a job at another university and I wish to follow him. My current department will not allow the funding to go with me, dispite it being awarded to me and my project. Does anyone have any experience with this or ideas for appeal. Thanks

I have a 2.1 Biochemistry BSc and would like to take on a neuroscience PhD in America. What is the best way to find one, how do I know if it is a good university and how can I get funding? Is there a helpful website similar to this one? Are the deadlines set in stone as I have only seen December entry?
