payment of tuition fee

You pay yearly. Nobody will ask you to submit entire four years' fee. Instead, you can arrange to pay your fee on semester basis. For a visa, you need to pay a semester's fee in advance + show proof you can pay for at least one year.

As the phd course will last for four years. Do i have to pay for the tuition fee for these whole 4 years, or pay it yearly? If my family save money for my tuition fees yearly and pay them year by year, can i get the visa? How can i convince that i do have the capability to fanance my self but not at one time?

i can totally sympathise, am in similar situation (BA cantab) there'sa whole inverted snobbery thing going on wih russel group graduates. best thing is to do a masters and apply for phDs that aren't MRC funded. no point saying where you went beyond your CV as it gets up peoples noses if they went somewhere "crummy" themselves. see previous responses.

I found the only way to get interviews was to contact the supervisors and heads of department directly, rather than be stopped by an administrator. People get grades for different reasons and in the end if a supervisor isn't willing to ask beyond the number, do you really want to work with them for 3 years?

(continued) Its extremely hard to get funding from the UK government. Your supervisor may have some funds available but thats not enough.
If you are passionate abt a phd, then its best if you work and save some money before starting a phd.
Also study your subject in the meantime and try to produce a research paper. This will help you in securing funds in the future.
If research is your aim then start now and dont wait for a Phd.
Also check out with British council and your own government for PhD financial resources.

If you have a Masters, then you can enrol directly in a Phd. But if you have a Bsc(4 years) then you can enrol in Mphil initially and later transfer (after one year) to phd. Most supervisor allow this. Email some supervisor of your choice and ask whether he will allow you to transfer after one year.

I graduated with a 2.2. I got a MSc plus some work experience in the area. I spent a year applying for PhDs and got knocked back everytime. I decided to remove the mention of my actual degree class from my CV. I got three interviews in a very short time. At the interviews I discussed my MSc work and proposal but did not disclose my 2.2. until the end. I got a few raised eyebrows but each of them offered me a place and I am now in fully funded PhD.

Dear Rob,
Yes PhD is my ultimate aim. But due to my weak financial background, I am worried for financing during MPhil & PhD. If not for MPhil, but atleast for PhD.
Please guide in this regard!

Bye,
Viki.

If phd is your ultimate aim, then go for mphil. The info about applications can be found on the Uni's website.

If you want to work after masters, then go for MSc.

is it possible for a undergraduate apply for phd?

Its possible but very difficult. The supervisor will need a proof of your commitment to the subject.

PhD+ Parttime Job
G

Its possible to take a part-time job but impossible to support yourself with that. ORS is extremely hard to obtain. Occasionally some supervisors admit PhD students without regard to their nationality but thats rare.
