There's a guy at Lancaster University called Bryan Wynne who supervises PhD's in this area.

I feel sorry for people who just want a PhD as a suffix for their name. They are interested in the Uni and not the subject.

I don't know if research in warwich enjoy high reputation in your area, but they do enjoy good reputation in general, and it is diffucult to get the admission from them. So, congratulations! But obviously it is not as good as Cam and OX. So you can just tell warwick that you would like to delay your acceptance for a couple of weeks and you don't need to be too ashamed as this is normal, and the universities are used to such issues

Raj, I think it's better to let them know that you've contacted both of them. Sooner or later they will know, and I think you need not to be ashamed, because your research area can involve everyone, and it is not private. Anyway, congratulations for geting the positive replies! Good luck then

I'm not an expert on this issue, but I know that my supervisor finished her last draft of her Dr. Thesis 4 days before she gave birth to her baby. So it's possible to be pregnant as well as being a full-time student if you want. Anyway, good for you to have a lovely baby (if this is real, sorry, I don't know)

Thanks imm, exactly one hour, hehe. I read your post-- you are int as well. I think as soon I got AD from Cam I may choose Cam to bid ORS. But i don't know the outcome and there is risk of course.

May I ask how good is Warwick? They got good reputation in UK but not worldwide as it is very young (unlike Cam OX IC LSE & UCL). Even not as good as Shef, KCL, Nottingham and Birmingham in terms of research income. But nevertheless their physics got 5 in RAE. So I am hesitating what to do next, to find another in the premier league (internationally well known) or to stick to Warwick as Cambridge backup?
Many thanks for your adivces!

I am an international student have don't know too much about UK Unis. I send CVs to physics in Warwick and the staff replied me one hour later. She asked me to go for an interview and urged me to submit ORS(overseas research studentship). It seems to be quite nice--while I am waiting for replies from Cambridge and ORS cannot be applied in more than one institutions.

think u can change status to part-time. It also depends if you have a studentship or u pay your own fees

Raj you are unlucky. I got a lot of support from my master supervisor. While I have send my CV to two supervisors in same dept. They all replied me with a very positive manor. Should I tell them I applied both and when?
