Medicine or a PhD - whic is easier to get in to ?
G

I applied to both and it was easier to get a PhD. Too many graduated are applying to med school - even some that already have a PHD!

which uni did u go to? I advise u to accuse the uni by sending a complian letter. If u have finished ur phd, and don't want to get into a trouble, then u better just leave it beside. Thanks for sharing ur experience with us. Happy 2004

Phew! Glad it worked out for you.

Is it worth doing an MPhil if i already have a MSc?
G

I would advise you to carry out some research on your own and write some research paper/s. Try to get them published. Then you become a very strong candidate for PhD even if you have bad grades.

No point in doing an MPhil if you already have a MSc. The main difference between MPhil and MSc is that MPhil is research only whereas MSc usually involves coursework. In Mphil you carry out some original reearch like PhD but the research is less detailed than in PhD.

It also depends on the student. PhD is merely a document. Your reputation as a researcher depends upon the work you publish and not on the name of the university. If you work hard and write some good research papers by the end of your PhD, you will definitely be preferred over someone with Oxbridge degree and no or little published work. The name of the degree granting institution will become insignificant with time. The name of the universities is important for people interested in public offices and politics as they use it to impress people.

I am up for an interview. can anyone tell me what issues I've got to be careful? What are the FAQs? It seems that they are likely to ask: "Why do you want to study for PhD?" How should I answer it? How do I answer such Question as:" Why do you want to study in our univ in particular?" Thx
