Hi,Mat, I think it depents on your subject. It is true that UWE is not as good as UCL etc. but they enjoy good reputation on some specific subjects (though i cannot remember clearly) I've been there and the campus is like a maze, though is very nice :)Ideally, you can choose a univ which don't have good reputation in general but is good at your subject.:)

Thank you C, but Goldsmith asks for personal statement as well, and I have included my aspiration and my desire in it. I cannot repeat them in the statement applying for the scholarship. Therefore, I still has anything left to say:(

is it worth applying to a not so good uni to try and obtain and phd? the applications per a place at UCL/KCL/ OXBRIDGE etc are so competitive I dont stand a chance. is a phd from somewhere like uwe as recognsed as UCL?

hi-ok i have had 2 phd interviews and from my experience I would go for a smart look-but dontover do it! my look is suit with a casual white vest under. a shirt and suit is way over the top!!!! black/gray trousers with smart jumper are also a popular look or us girls!

I am considering a PhD at Cambridge simply because they are offering a very appealing selection of topics. I must say though that I'm slightly put off by the intimidatingly elitist image of the whole place!

I just finished a similar one page personal statement but felt the accompanying CV should handle the highlighting of academic merit. Hence I decided to focus more on conveying the idea that I have a passionate interest in the subject area, my aims, etc.

Maybe you could describe any pieces of relevant coursework, labwork or classes you took that you achieved well in?

Goldsmith College has college scholarships for students, but for the application, they asked me to write a statement (no more than 1 page) explaining why I would like to be considered for a scholarship on the basis of academic merit.
Obviously, every student wishes the scholarships, and of course I’m afraid this is definitely not what they want to hear. So what should I write? What are they asking for?

I want to know that what is the application deadline for most of the universities in germany. i want to do in the field of molecular biology/ structural biology.

And i think it is also possible to serf the web-pages in some universities and ask for suggestions from some research tutors in their universities
