studentships. phd, diffrence?

Yeh im pretty sure you will be asked for your GPA at any good uni. For an MSc they may not (but they still should!), but for a PhD i would expect most places to take the GPA very seriously. They take our degree results extremely seriosuly so why would they make exceptions for overseas students????

Go on to a search engine (i.e. www.google.com) and type in something like 'Mass Communication PhD University UK' and then start working your way though the list! Each university site will tell you if they offer your subject and if they do they will tell you how to apply and their address.

Part time PhD
G

Hi - I am finishing my MSc at the moment and also hope to study my PhD part time so I can continue to work.

My MSc is also part-time and I found there is very little in the way of sponsorship. I have managed to get my company to sponsor me through my MSc but there is no way they will sponsor my PhD.

Again - your not alone :0(

But hay - at least you will have some good work experience when you finish! :0)

Hi can anyone recommend a good web-site to find part-time research work in environmental science (or related)? I am already trying individual universities but would like to know if there is one good web-site that shows opportunities form many universities and companies.

Thanks!x

I am interested in starting a Ph.D programme in Mass Comm in any UK university next academic session. I do not know how to get the addresses and application forms from the universities, and I really would like to start next session. Can someone help pls. Thanks.

Research proposal

86% is fine, because most of the depts only ask for 85%. Sorry I am not an expert in funding issues, and I, myself is a little confused as well; So, sorry, I am afraid I cannot give you more suggestions in this issue.

Hi, Shuo, in the application form you have to write your centrol topic of your research, i.e. what area you are going to explore. But it might not need to be long, because most of the depts ask for a separate sheet, on which you have to write your research questions, appraoches, methods etc. in detail. it can be from two pages to 2000 or 3000 words, if you are unfurtunate. This really depends on the unviersities.

How to write the research proposal in the applicaiton form? It requires a thesis title!
BTW I am an oversea with avg 86%, will graduate with 1st. but find not easy to get funding :(((

Consultancy Work - good or bad?

Hi! I am not currently working in research - I work as an Environmental Consultant. I want to complete a PhD in environmental science. I am finishing my part-time MSc whilst I work. Do you think my consultancy experience go against me when I apply, as I am not completing research?

Thanks.x

Silly Question?

Hello. I am English - Can someone confirm to me if I was to study my PhD in another country (ie USA, Europe, Canada, Austrialia) - when I came back to England would it be recognised and accepted by universities and employers the same way as if I studied in the UK?

Thanks.x
