That's cool! I certainly am! That's how I heard of it as it was highly regarded by others in the field when I was doing environmental stuff for my BSc! It's good for technical issues - is your project related to this field?

Hi Markov, it is a scary time, I remember it well. To prepare, I re-read my thesis and all the key papers I had referenced. I also read my examiners’ papers to get an idea of their approach to the field. I think having a mock viva (with your supervisory team) is invaluable. Above all, be confident in your viva (even if you don’t feel it!) but not arrogant. Remember that no thesis is perfect and if you are aware of flaws or shortcomings (and hence, prepared to defend them) you will be ok. Best of luck!

Yes, every October it is a battle to get the payment. They usually write out a cheque (instead of transfering the money directly onto my account) but tell me that they won't. Then I call up and ask about the payment and they tell me it's not their fault if I don't pick it up at re-registration.

Yeah I know what you mean Neil. I didn't think I would like London either but it depends on what you are doing and who you meet. I lived in London briefly for a few months before doing my MSc in northern England and thought it was horrible but I've been doing proper research work for the past year and thought it was great! Scotland is the best place to go to uni as I had a great time doing my BSc there!

How about some haggis on the side! Goes well with munchkins! The chocolate in M & Ms is nicer as it's not as sweet. Other chocolates are really sweet so you can't taste anything but sugar!

It shows your keen. I kept asking to see the proposal for the project I'm working on so my supervisor eventually gave it to me although it was a rough draft! So I sort of know what I'm doing and I've stopped pestering him for it! Understanding it is another matter but I'll worry about that at a later date!

Abseiling is when you use a rope to lower yourself off tall structures - buildings or cliffs or whatever takes your fancy! Me too. I'm in the same situation as Stu! It also depends on the field you want to work in as some subjects are popular than others. In science alot of people do masters first for various reasons but it does help as it's a very competitve area. However that is not always the case. It just depends on the applicants and who you know.
