Hi I'm German Student, who studies International Economics an Business in the Netherlands. I will receive my Bachlor next summer. I would like to do an PhD either in Great Britain or the US. Can I start with a PhD right away, or do I first have to do an expensive Master?

Am I legally eligible to apply?
I changed course during my degree, got 70-90% in finals but still got a pass degree (couldn't have honours because I was classed as not having 360 credits in a single subject, because I had 120 on my first course and 240 in the course I transferred to).

I spent a year working, and my experience together with an explanation of my final exam results got me onto a masters course.
The minimum requirement for a phd is 2.1 or 2.2+masters. Would I be wasting my time even applying?

I am an oversea student. I have been studying in the UK for four years now. 2003-2004 will be my final year of undergraduate studies. My spoken English is fine, however, I am not too confident at my writing. Realistically, I think I would gain a 2(i) rather than a first. I have graduated in medical microbiology and am going on to do a masters, after which I want to find a PhD in epidemiology. Not having done much epidemiology in the past I was wondering how much of epidemiology is lab based? is it possible to find PhD's dealing with the data analysis side of infectious disease epidemiology rather than involving a lot of lab work??
