In my earlies I had given more concentration on my family business and less concentration on study by which I got very poor mark through out my career and in my Post Graduate I got Third Class. Presently I am engaged in education business. If any body help me to guide how to get PhD it could be a great help.

Hi, I have found a suppervisor who is interested in recruiting me to do a PhD but they have no funding and want to know if i have full or partial funding to go towards the PhD. I thought only suppervisors could get funding. How would I go about getting funded? Thanks.

Has anyone noticed how many PhDs are advertised when the people offering the PhD already knows who they want to do it? It wastes our time because we spend valuable time and money applying for something which has already been given to someone. I think the institions advertise to appear open and to look as though they give everyone a chance, but what is the point when it is all just a sham?

I know exactly what you mean. I know exactly what I want to do in a Phd, and have done everything people ask of me, get a masters they said, so I did, get some experience they said, so I have done for the past 3 years, but still nothing. 50 plus applications and not an interview

I am working as a formulation developement scientist in an indaian based company,i have completed my Master of pharmacy in Pharmaceutics .I am having a publication in chem pharma bulittein in a sustain release and very good exposure in different types of formulations.I am very much intersted to do PhD in related subjects and i too like to know can i get any finacial help .

I have been working as a research assistant for 2 years since graduating. I gained a 2:1 in microbilogy. My bosses keep telling me that I am an attractive candidate for a PhD. However I have applied for 20+ PhDs in London and had only one interview (and that was an internal position). My bosses are great and are trying to get me funding. But, i would really like to do a PhD in Microbiology, I just can't find any. I am at the stage of getting depressed about it AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I think it would depend on what basis your tutor (if acting as an academic referee) calculates your predicted degree classification. Why not have a chat with him/her to see if they can put your mind at ease. I would have thought that your decent 3rd year results would be a good indicator of continued success in your final year. I'm studying for a bsc in neuroscience in Scotland (which takes 4 years)and would like to do a phd after I finish. I have just completed third year and have decent results (easily good enough for a 2.1) and my honours classification depends entirely on my fourth year. the thing is that my first and second year results were very poor and as I would be appling for a phd halfway through fourth year would my poor first and second year results hamper my chances.

How about applying for a British based PhD that includes some research time overseas? Might be a way to overcome your funding problem? Good luck :o)
