If you check the RAE ratings for business and managament studies, all three have the same rating. It's up to you where you want to live really. Royal Holloway is near London and Sheffield is the furthest away (but probably the cheaper place to live).

I think you should contact Queen Marys and see what they think about you doing their taught masters course. Also ask them about going on to a PhD and your chances with that.

It's worth a shot, chemists get all over the place (in some random areas) so don't give up. You need good reasons for the conversion, do plenty of background reading - possibly get hold of the main texts for an UG physics course (start by brushing up on A-level Physics and Maths).

I don't think it will be possible to go straight from chemistry to a phd in astrophysics/astronomy.

I guess you will need to prove that you are very capable when it comes to physics and maths, some chemistry UG degrees have loads of physics/maths others don't.

Aim for as few slides as possible with as little text as possible.

Remember this is YOUR work and no one knows it better than you. They just want to make sure you know what you are talking about and have made progress. They want to make sure they wont be wasting money on you.

10 minutes is not a long time and it will be over before you know it. Plan what you want to say and practise! Try to keep to 10 minutes to be professional and practising will make sure you don't ramble on.

My supervisor has never said to me you need to work x many hours a week/day/month to get your work done. If I ever ask them a question about length or time, their answer is "how long is a piece of string".

I probably don't work as hard as other people but I do get my work done. I take holidays and have odd days where I find I don't do anything for whatever reason. I never work at weekends or evenings (unless a have a tight deadline). My supervisors are happy as long as they see progress and I make sure they know whats happening (from time to time).

I guess this is quite a laid back approach but everyone in my research group seems to finish (submit and viva) between 3rd and 4th year so it can't all be wrong.

Definitely do both!

Well done for being accepted to both. I don't think it's that important to change title etc unless you feel it's really important. Especially if the overlap group is going to be so small. I've done this before and I bet lots of people have.

I find swimming so relaxing, I feel like I could go on forever even when I'm not that fit.
