I think its funny what mum's come out with. I'm in my third year, have about 9 months to go. My mum has constantly asked since I started:

"Is all your work done yet?"

I think it's important to have a life outside your PhD.

If you are having problems sleeping, try some exercise to relax you and tire you. Swimming is great, I find it really calming.

I think golfpro is being realistic, not trying to beat you down.

If you are prepared to pay for your Masters, then no doubt you will find a university where you can do your course as fees are normally well over £10,000.

However if you are looking for funding, remember that there are few funded masters courses and even less funding for international students. When there is funding, you will be competing with other international students who have acheived much higher than a pass. What will convince the university that you are the better student?

Don't get Maths Training for the ds, it's rubbish and the music is irritating.

Hmmm, I got Mario Galaxy for my Wii and it's taking up too much of my time.

I also got the Maths Training game for the ds but it's rubbish. I want my money back!

Like most people have said, depends on the supervisor and student!

Some academics have social problems (as do non-academics) so that doesn't help.

Mine are quite good, I invited all 3 to my wedding, 2 came (3rd couldnt make it).

I've probably spend more time with my industrial supervisor due to my placement and he's the opposite of formal and is always joking about.

I can't wait! Sugar and lemon juice! hubby hates them but all the more for me!

Other fave fillings:
Spinach and philly
Cheese and tomato
Nutella - I wont buy a jar because I will end up scoffing it on it's own
Ice cream and maple syrup

Like I said to you on another thread, RAE ratings are better for postgraduate education.
