I agree WritingUp...I also got those scary "intention to submit" forms a few weeks ago and at the bottom it said "The decision to submit is made by the student alone" - SCARY or what!

I agree with Freddy. As many of the posts on this board suggest it is a good idea to keep your supervisor onside and the fact he is contacting you to read stuff suggests he is worth being honest with.

i understand a lit review to be an overview of work in your field, pulling out the good and bad points and saying where your work fits and does something new. Google "how to write a lit review" and you will find loads of unis with good lists of questions to help.

well guys you will be "pleased" to hear that I only managed 10 words today - boo hoo! Going to watch Big Brother to remind me things could be worse! Have a good evening all.

Sounds like the form is simply a formality - no pun intended...okay well just a little one - I would try not to worry. Just be honest and say you need some extra time to finish up lab work as you begin your write-up or something. If everyone has these forms then sounds like it is a pretty standard thing. I have to fill out something similar...another chance for the uni to get some money out of us!

I want so submit by Dec but that is probably unrealistic...more like March. Have been writing up some since Jan. But conferences and life have taken over a bit! Ha ha. How have you found writing-up writingup?
