Which tense to use in Methodology?
H

Quote From dunni73:

I have always written methods in the past tense, ie this is what I did. Likewise, the results are also past tense, ie this is what I found. Hope that helps!

Thanks! That does help :) I think I'm confused because I've written parts of the literature review in the present/active tense.

Which tense to use in Methodology?

Hi,

Which tense are you supposed to use in your Methodology. I am writing up one of my pilot studies and I'm not sure which tense I'm supposed to be writing in? I've had a look at a few thesis and they seem to have been written in the past tense?

Thanks

PhD Supervisor without a PhD?
H

I know a Professor who just has a BA, no academic papers but has tons of work experience.

Aknowledgement!

I don't think you should go over a page.

Using photos

Interesting question. I'm not sure - but I think it'd have to relate to what you are writing about. I wonder if it would be good to include pictures in my study design, showing how the case study was conducted? Has anyone done that in the past?

You can do it! If you really are achieving nothing because you're not feeling well I'd personally take the rest of the day off and use my time wisely relaxing before blasting it over the weekend. Think of it as using your time more effectively, rather than half-working and feeling fed up with it all by tomorrow.

I'd second that. Great advice! (up)

Hi,
Have just started using Mendeley after reading recommendations on here (thanks!). I downloaded the plug in for MS Word but don't seem to have a toolbar for citations etc. Any advice?!

Do you mean you can't see the toolbar? Which version of word are you using? Is it a 64 bit version. The easiest way is to contact Mendeley support, they are very helpful and quick at replying too.

Thanks to all of you!

Congrats! You deserve a BIG party :D

Something positive!!!

Congrats :). It's great to read some good news. I think we should have a thread that focuses on good news.

Dilemma about PhD

Don't reject it. Go for the interview and see how it goes. Also, you only have an informal offer. Until you have a formal offer, there is no guarantee of a place.

So who's watching the royal wedding?
H

I have been watching. The dress was amazing, and the couple looked happy!

Did anyone else think Pippa Middleton looked the most stunning?

Hi Rick,

I don't have access to Scopus. I better ask the librarians if there is anyway I could get access ...

Which database/s do you use to search for papers?

Hi,

Which database/s do you use to search for papers? As I am in an interdisciplinary field, I tend to use Google Scholar, but I was thinking maybe that isn't the best option. What would you recommend?

Thanks! :)

The One Goal Thread

My first goal today is to read the pile of journal article.

Second goal is to start organising thoughts around them.
