I am extremely analytical and fussy (in a good way!) when preparing solvents and preparation of compounds for running analysis on as well as having a desire to do research on this field."

Just between you guys, I have had a stagnated degree as I didn't do mine in one go, I took longer in doing mine as I initially went for an BSc in 2003 and failed the final year in England and then the issues with the course shutting down. (I wont tell them, I don't need to address the lack of honours here do I?)

I have had experience in working with complex molecules and have an active interest in obtaining compounds from natural sources and it would interest me viewing and interpreting the spectra from these amazing compounds. I have worked with Indole Alkaloids (My favourites) and Quinolines (malaria compounds) in the past and have been fascinated by their complex structure and to be honest, quite awed by them.

What would I take to the PhD? I am more a biological chemist than a straight organic chemist or a pharmaceutical chemist. I have also done herbalism so I am familiar with a lot of the structures to be expected with plants as I can look into the plant source it came from as a certain plant family will have a certain type of compounds which are accessory to the main active compound.

Would I be able to put up something I wrote for a PhD application for Edinburgh Uni and I was wondering if you fine people can be a help (as you would know more about the wording of things and more technical than family.)

I would really like to find out where I maybe going wrong.

Stye infection? You may need to take Zavirex for some time and it may come back. My aunt suffers from stye infection issues and you have to watch in case you get retinal scaring from it.

I am looking at neuroscience ones as well though and chemistry ones. Just that a LOT of the PhDs is in psychical chemistry at the moment.

The joke of it is that I did my PGCert lab module at a red brick uni LOL LOL

I have been rejected for PhDs where my PGCert module tutor was one of the supervisors.

I managed to impress the interviewers (I am trying to hide a learning difficulty which affects my speech) and I still never got a PhD. I have had missing PhD replies. Glasgow Uni didn't even get back to me about a non getting of the PhD. My ideal PhD is in Cannabinoid Receptors as I have studied it for the last 3 years and my local lab hasn't taken in PhD people for a while.

I#d probably be in a PhD by now if I did catalysis or something like that!

That pretty more or less puts me out of contention. :( You've all heard my situation with my degree course being shut down leaving me with a pretty big hole with the lack of honours. I have however had some interviews in regards of technician roles though and that is with a BSc in Applied Chemistry and a MSc in Science (I got 1% off a merit in the exam for one of my modules.)

I was rejected from Liverpool University for a PhD due to me not having lab experience! anddddd a few years ago, I did manage to get a PhD interview in neuroscience with my ordinary degree. Those days have gone now! I am stuck in an impossible situation.

Still waiting to hear back from St Andrews & Heriott - Watt and I am in the middle of doing a covering letter for Edinburgh.

JM I was in the same boat as you doing a course as I am and still unemployed. I would seriously say that even though you have done the masters, you still will be unemployed as people are still wanting experience. How about trying to get some work experience or anything whilst you do the course as it could be the matter of getting a job or not.

Granted not what you want to hear, but, this is what I am getting. Or on the other side, you can get through the masters course and get a job straight away!

But if terms of the grant, we need to know where and what you are studying.
