Should you buy your supervisor a present at the end?

I think I'll def be getting my sup something, but I'm not sure what yet. He's been amazing, and so suppportive through everything! Even if it's his job, I feel like he's gone the extra mile where other sup's wouldn't have and for that I think he deserves a little something to say thanks. (up)

I nominate Cleverclogs (if he's still about) for best "baddie" award. How I miss the strongly-worded "discussions". *sigh*

SPSS- any ideas?
J

I would say that social class is ordinal data because you can rank it (middle class being highest status, poor being lowest).

Can't help you on the other factors as I no longer use SPSS (I've turned qualitative) and would need to look at the data to work it out!

Good luck!

I always imagined Natassia to have a Russian look about her (I think it's the name). Blonde hair, pretty, very girly but quite headstrong at the same time.

Sneaks, I see as being really funny and a good laugh to be around, but also quite conscientious - likes to make sure thinks are done on time and to a good standard.

I've always imagined Bug to be quite assertive, but sensitive at the same time. I imagine her with mid-length dark hair, and very smart looking. Someone who makes an effort, yet makes it look effortless.

I imagine jinkim to be on a constant treadmill, jogging away while recording her comments and thoughts about her thesis on a dictaphone. I think she may be one of those annoying people who can 'do it all' and not just say "i can't be arsed" :p

Haha this made me laugh. I'm actually mega lazy... possibly the laziest person I know! :p

I have my first job interview next week and I'm bricking it!! For starters it's miles away, so I have to go down the day before, but it's also a day long affair and I have to give a presentation, and do an interview. Although lunch is included :-)

Do you have any advice after your interview??

Hi guys,

I'm in desparate need of your help and guidance in solving what has become the most annoying thing ever!!

I'm writing up using word 2007. I always justify my work because I think it looks neater. But, I'm having a slight issue. For some of my paragraphs, the last line stretches accross the whole page, when it really doesn't need to. Especially if the last line is only 2 words long. It looks ridiculous. I don't know how to unjustify the last line only without the whole paragraph being aligned to the left. It is usually fine and does this itself but for a couple of paragraphs (particularly those followed by a diagram or table), the last line is also justified, so it looks like this:

I (loads of space) need (loads of space) your (loads of space) help. (end of line aligned to the right)

(sorry for stuff in brackets - when I posted the thread it aligned the above to the left, and took out all my spaces)

I don't know how to change it. Help needed if possible!! :-s

I was ill over xmas and couldn't bare the thought of doing "actual" work, so did all the little bits like acknowledgements, etc so I felt like I was still achieving something. It made it feel like it was all coming together. I've been on a roll since then!

The exercise thread
J

I keep fit by rowing. If you're tall I'd say give it a go. It's a fab all body exercise, gets you toned up, and if you do it competitively like me, you get to wear lycra all in ones. Get in! haha.

To train for this, I do circuit training once a week, cross training like running or cycling twice a week, flexibility and core exercises (including the plank - that's a rowers favourite), and then the rest is either indoor or on-the-water rowing.

I'd say if you don't want to do any specific sport, and just want to get a bit fitter, go jogging. You can build it up over time so you can literally start out at a complete non-runner level. Mix in some weights, sit-ups and crunches and you're sure to be looking and feeling a million dollars/pounds/euros in no time! :-)
