i'm up learning some theories. preparing some work for next week - definitely not staying up all night. guess am not one of those good students. if am sleepy i sleep, regardless of the prospect of having to account for it to my sup. anyhow, don't listen to me. i think i've got to a point where, the need to meet my sups expectations doesn't drive me or scare me anymo.. in terms of handing in work - not standards ofcourse .

if you watched a video online, that is related to your subject of research and you want to use the examples therein, would you cite it - given the unauthoritative nature of the site? if you would, how?

which internet resources are acceptable for the purpose of a thesis? all sites? some sites?

i see. i'll check out that conference and find a few papers by the presenters, then see if i'll attend. sounds very technological tho. will see. .

actually, it is useful - in the sense that it says that understanding the sociology of things is just as important as understanding the sociology of humans - so i suppose i could find more articles along those lines; three things tho, industries, humans and the law.

the article mentions morality and the law - within the context of the seatbelt - i suppose the difficulty i have with it is towards the end where it says that sociologists are seeking inflexible laws that will make human act in a more moral way. true to some extent looking at the purpose of law, from a legal perspective, but quite controversial, unless ofcourse its criminal law, and even if it were, still a bit controversial - it's aim is not to coerce human beings to act in a particular way - or am i in denial???? .

i still find myself doing the occassional translating from a to b to c on the odd occassion.

my education has been in English, tho i don't speak it at home. so maybe that's why i might come across as being one who's first language is English.

yap - inanimate things like say a car industry. how do i justify applying theories based on human behaviour to the behaviour of an industry?

hi guys, sorry for the silence, been away on holiday - a month off doing nothing :-), back to reality now. well, i need your help on something- theories.

has any of you every applied theories on human behaviour (sociology) to something that is not human? how did you justify this in your thesis. am planning to say that 'these theories are based on the study of individuals. they could however be applied to abcd. do i need to justify this?????

Got up at 8am, got ready to leave for uni at 9, was still home surfing at 12, that went on til 3. went to the lib to borrow a book, got back at about 6 - tried to do some ready. got really stressed out. watched a movie - its now 22.43 and am contemplating going to sleep. the staying up thing - tho it has crossed my mind - would be a bit too much for me. so... hopefully tomorrow.

hi guys! great to know that am not the only 24 year old doing a PhD. just got back from holiday. trying to get back into the working rythm.

for me, am the first in my field, first masters, first phd.. i don't really notice the masters and phd thing. i only wish there was someone who could relate to my subject area/profession.

went to Durham at some point, people there are the same. a lot more studious tho - compared to the other unis i've been to.

i guess she is relying on my previous supervisors reports. i don't know, but all i know is that i wanna graduate and get on with my life. there must be more to life than figuring out supervisors....

ouch, did i say that? guess am frustrated. should take some time off today and tomorrow before getting back to things .
