Scamp, the UK viva normally consists of at least 2, and normally not more than 3, examiners, of whom at least 1 is external. I think you can have your supervisor present if you request it (but they must not comment). Vivas are not open to all as far as I know.

Did your supervisor give you a mock viva at all? If not, ask for one, even if it's done by someone else in the dept. I think your fears are normal, and it may be that you end up with more major corrections being asked for than you'd hoped, but it's highly unlikely you'll fail. Hard as it may be, try and chat to your supervisor about your fears and check with them that they agree you're ready for your viva.

Perfectly normal and common feelings you've described here. I can only second the advice already offered, and also suggest chatting to a postdoc too, if there are any you get on with. Try incorporating some physical activity into your routine, as the endorphin rush may well work wonders in lifting your mood, and endogenous opioids have got to be better than pharmaceuticals. Seems to vary depending on university policy and where the money is coming from. I'm funded internally and get paid monthly, but others, sponsored by industry, for example, often follow different rules.

What did you think was happening when the koalas pooed - freak hail storm?

I knew about the kangaroo cull Piglet, and argued with many an Aussie about it, and possum culls too. Surprised by the koala killing though, but having heard some male koalas screeching at night, I don't think of them as quite so cute and cuddly anymore! Fell in love with the quokkas on Rottnest Island - please don't tell me they're shot too.
