Yep, the little s*ds smashed my bay window and nicked my laptop (complete with only copy of some PhD work), DVD player, etc. It's freezing with a big hole in my window and the contents of all my drawers are strewn everywhere. Can't sleep cos I'm so paranoid now.

Don't fret Pea. I reckon all PhD students have phases like that; I know I certainly have (for quite long periods too!). Obstacles crop up as well, like waiting for orders, conference preparations, & loads of other stuff seems to halt progress, so you're certainly not alone.Motivation has a habit of returning just when you'd given up all hope.

Could well be seasonal affective disorder (SAD). That is supposed to lead to oversleeping and tiredness, as well as feeling a bit crap in general. Not long till spring, Eatingelephants, when you'll hopefully pick up a bit.

DJWickid - Good on yer mate for taking direct action against these law-breakers. In my experience, it is most definitely the hunters you have to beware of, and not dodgy saboteurs. Hunters are obviously no strangers to violence, and 2 saboteurs have died following encounters with hunt vehicles. These 2 deaths are extreme examples of what hunters are capable of, but do not assume that if they are charging at you on their horse, they will deviate at the last minute. Try and keep out of their way and get on with the useful tasks of laying false scents and leading the hounds in the wrong direction by calling or using horns. Look out for one another. It's hard work physically too keeping up with horses, and involves quite a bit of running, so try and get in shape and get some rest the day before. Good luck!

No chance of concentrating unless you have headphones on in our large office. Music doesn't stop the missiles from the cricket, however (eg squidgy plastic brains being batted about).
