Hi K, thanks for your advice! that is really good thinking! thinking on a weekly plan basis. you're right my daily targets are not working, and then i feel bad on a daily basis. i like this new concept, of making a weekly plan. i will try it this week thanks so much.

sorry *he* being my brother, he was asking me how my thesis was going. and how i tried his suggestion waking up at 5am, for a couple of days, but felt too tired all day, so couldnt do it. then started at 10am again. so he suggested 8am a good compromise, but to make sure i go to bed by midnight.

he's right. a daily routine is very important.

thanks TG ! glad you liked the article
sounds like your making excellent progress, well done you you're nearly there!!

well i did about an hour this morning. faffed around abit, got my bike fixed, and a few other little things. he told me i should start waking up at 8am EVERYDAY and keep the routine. so tommorow is a fresh new day and going to wake up at 8am, and go to bed by midnight everyday no matter what. as JB always says, its the EVERYDAY that counts. and my brother said i *must* keep to a routine of waking up at a specific time. and 8am, is a good time to aim for.

just had a late lunch with the family (sunday tradition). and i'm taking a break now, and treating myself to watching a dvd film hehe. naughty me. and then will work for a few hours in the evening.

and TG you're so right, it's a fresh week starting monday!
a clean slate to work on.

"7. Aim low

Don’t schedule every minute of your day. Leo at Zenhabits suggests that we have morning and evening routines, and leave the middle of the day open for completing key tasks and other things that come up.

Daily routines are supposed to make things easier, not more complicated. Micro managing every minute of your day does not work."

*clocking in*

going by the above philosophy: aiming low today.

from yesterday:
did some rough stuff for aim 1 and aim 2. flagged interesting cases.
did about 2 hours and half hours

---
todays aim:
chapter 3:
1. work on the SNP section.
a) SNP global table
b) cluster analysis
c) penny analysis
d) compare data with M/S

Article: 'The Planning Fallacy'
L

hehe thats exactly what i was thinking Janey, after reading that article , I can happily spend an hour or so planning and planning, and most mornings i will spend at least 30minutes making plans for the rest of the day!

i think from tommorow onwards, i am going to just jump in and just start working, and make the next thing to do as i go along. sometimes i dont like to plan at all. as i dont even know what i have to do until i start working on it, and then i realise i can break it up into little fragments.

i sometimes add things to my "list" as i go along, just so i can tick it off lol.

oh and in answer to your question. my day was all full of , im gonna do this and this and this and that and this. lol and did about an hours work, felt hungry. had lunch, took a break, felt tired, took a 2 hour nap! and whoooosh the day's gone. i love how every morning i have such great expectations of what i'm going to do!
"Better yet, where possible, avoid planning altogether. Use the "ready, fire, aim" approach, and correct course as you go along. "

"Sometimes, the secret to getting things done is just to do them."

i'm gonna use that philosophy tommorow. instead of spending half an hour making a long list of things i wanna do. and planning and planning. i will just list one thing i want to do. then once i've done that. tick it off. and then move onto the next thing.

OMG I love Christian Bale! that would be so awesome if he was cast as John Connor, what a great casing idea!!! thats just made my day

thanks for your message, and you are so right about how a few months ago i had nothing. yah you're so right, just gotta do abit everyday.

although the article about planning (cited by janey) does make me feel abit better, than no matter what we plan to do, its not possible to always meet them.

"We know everything always takes longer than expected; we just seem to forget, again and again. In one study, students were asked when they expected to complete an essay, and gave an average answer of 10 days before deadline. The reality was an average of one day before deadline. Yet when the students were asked when they normally completed such essays, they knew the truth: one day before deadline. "
