Hello everyone! And hello Anthropologa! good luck with your aims today see you tonight for confession time

okay my goals/aims for today:

1. Finish chapter 4 and complete to final version

2. finish chapter 3 and complete to final version

a family friend has asked to see what i have done so far, so that's given me the motivation to pull up both chapters to a final version state. i am planning on sending it to him by midnight tonight. and then i can focus on a brand new chapter tommorow, knowing these two chapters are done and dusted. well that's the plan anyway! nonstop work today. once i get both chapters done I will treat myself to a dvd film!!

good luck everyone!

well i finished my aim number 1 last night, did 1,500 words for my discussion. but then once i finished it, I realised there were some interesting bits from an earlier draft. i was too tired last night to include the "extra stuff" so i will just do it now.

i will set my egg timer for 45 minutes and i will finish it and then log back in to set my aims for today.
------

how is everyone else doing? what are your aims for today?

update from yesterday

in total worked productively for about 3 and half hours in total. the rest of the time, i took off, watched a film and just blew off some time and took an afternoon nap.

did 1,500 words for my discussion for chapter 4 yesterday.

but i want to add a few more stuff to it, so will just do that now , and give myself an hour maximum. and then start on my next chapter.

you're very welcome! I am happy to hear it helped!

yeh I am the same, I will set my egg timer, but then realise I am in the "zone" and I carry on writing after the buzzer has gone off, or sometimes i even keep setting back the egg timer to have 5 extra more minutes before the buzzer goes off lol.

I am doing the 15mins on and 2min off tactic. to get through the discussion section. so I will use the 2 min break to catch up on the previous messages in this thread. you all are an inspiration for me to carry on working. reading your accomplishments are great motivators for me!

anyone else up burning the midnight oil?

well i took a massive break today, only worked about half an hour and then what was only meant to be a couple of hours break , ended up becoming a massive break lasting the whole day! in addition taking a nap in the afternoon! i guess working for the past 7 days without any proper breaks took its toll.

so i am working late now in order to achieve aim number 1.

earlier on i was having an anxiety attack about my thesis, and came across this nice little website link full of helpful hints.

reading that made me feel better, and gave me the motivation to carry on

how are you doing Anthropolaga?

and the rest of the A-team? how you all doing?

tommorow an update from everyone is required! hehe i thought i would be abit bossy there

great! sounds like a good plan and aims, and i think its a good idea to start with something you want to write. it will make you feel better that you have done some writing for today. its always good to start with something you enjoy or is easy.

good luck!

okay i am gonna set my egg timer and see if i can get my discussion done in 30 minutes

like JB says, every day is more important than how much time you spend or how many pages you produce or the quality. its the EVERYDAY part, doing SOMETHING rather than absolutely nothing that totally counts.

so the fact that you are trying to do something everyday on your writing, bodes VERY well !! and will dramatically increase the odds of you finishing.

i think the point is, set your aims, just slightly higher, BUT dont berate yourself if you dont achieve them. thats the important thing, dont be hard on yourself IF you dont achieve them. kinda look at the glass half full sort of thing

Hello Anthropolaga,
seems like we both logged on in here around the same time.

i got up late today.oooops, i was really tired from the past two days.

I totally get what you mean. you want to set aims that are actually achievable so once you achieved them you get a sense of accomplishment, but you also want to set the bar just a little higher to push yourself.

its a delicate balance, which i have no idea how to figure out.

you're not the only one, i was working on one of my aims for the past 5 days!! had no idea it was going to take that long, so sometimes things take longer than you anticipate.

for me personally. i set the aims i would like to achieve. and if i achieve them, then i can reward myself with taking a couple of hours off and watching a dvd film. IF i dont achieve them, but still have done the best of my ability, that i physically could have achieved that day, then that is still an accomplishment.
