problems with my 'surrogate' supervisor- don't know how to handle her bullying
L

the failure in you not understanding, is her fault, she is the teacher, and if she cant explain things than it's her who is to blame. she sounds awful. poor you. i know what it feels like to be a burden on someone, and that person resenting in helping you. it makes you feel so horrible and helpless.

you should set up a meeting with her with a mediator and discuss these things, and then if nothing is settled talk to your main supervisor.

noway should you stand for any sort of hostile or aggressive behaviour. seriously why do people think they can get away with unacceptable behaviour, her attitude is NOT accepted especially in a work environment. she should be reprimanded.

hey silly billy! ahh you submitting your thesis to senate house too then i see

i wasted a few hours this morning, figuring out how to change page numbers on a landscape page! it was annoying me, but figured it out using tutorials on the internet.

now i have spent almost3 hours, on 2 sentences in my results section, and making 1 figure! but i suppose these things take time, and once its done, its done.

eeeek i hope i meet my deadline. 4th of july, first full draft. i have so many sections to do. but just gonna do my best. that i physically can do.

my margins for page setup are as follows:

top = 2.8cm
bottom = 2.54cm

left = 4cm
right = 2cm

BUT when the page is in landscape setup: the margins are as follows:

top is now = 4cm
left is = 2.54
right = 2.8cm
bottom = 2.5cm

update yesterday

worked on results of chapter 4.
total words in 1st draft format: approx 2000 words (inc 1 table and 1 figure).

learnt how to change the margins. someone told me it is better to fix the margins NOW because it will be harder to fix it later. so fixed it according to the UOL regulations. binding is left heavy.

also learnt how to automatically do bullet point numbers
and learnt about how to wrap text around pictures, making sure it stays on the top and bottom.

S is so right, sometimes you really do have to literally force yourself to keep put and work through even though you're hating it. thats what i do sometimes, when i REALLY just want to get up and leave it. i force myself to just sit there and work on it even if its going really really really slow. if im really getting frustrated and bored. i sometimes put my favourite tv show on in the background so that i can "fool" myself into thinking im not really work. then when i get into it. i turn it off. works for me.

that is really cute actually what anthro just said that we're all around the world, yet connected through this thread :)

i've just had to say no to a really good friend of mine :( about meeting up tommorow. i really wanted to, but i just cant afford to get distracted right now. saying no was hard though.

i think once i submit my first draft, i am going to start reading dale carnegies book on public speaking, i am a huge fan of his other books, so maybe i can gain some insight that might help me. i will let you know if i get any tips whilst reading it.

attaining knowledge is difficult. putting it into practice is even harder, being safe from knowledge( ie becoming arrogant thinking you know everything and do not think more or learn more about it or think out of the box from it) is even MORE dangerous.

fundentally we're all students from every walk of life. no one is the expert of everything. there will always be new things that come and change the current held opinion. the ones i admire are the ones that are humble and are always actively learning and listening and realise the limitations of their knowledge.
