I am currently in the process of applying for a Phd

i've applied at the same university where I am currently doing my masters degree, the phd supervisor involved is also the course leader for my masters.

I haven't heard anything back yet (he said soon), but I wanted to apply for a different type of course based another university.

the problem I have is that one of my references is my potential supervisor/masters course leader!

i'm just a little stuck at the moment as i'm still waiting on the phd, and if I apply for the second course before knowing about the phd would that cause some problems?

if anyone has been in a similar situation it would most appreciated.

Thats not true, you should be able to get one for most courses where there is'nt a compulsory loan or grant, and is regardless of what subject it is (phd or Masters).

I have one for my Masters in computing, which is not the medical, accountancy lists.

The PGCE I am interested in, is all supported by the Higher Education Academy as well Further Education.

I was considering the PGCE first, then maybe a part time Phd later..
obviously not starting it all at the same time!

I mean a part time PGCE for post-compulsory education designed for either further or higher education, that is endorsed by the Higher Education Academy, I also assume while teaching, a phd would be done part time as well

Just enquiring if you manage to get a phd studentship with some lecturing/teaching would you be able to do a PGCE part time as well?

Just wondering if anyone who was on/still on a phd 'teaching' post, and also managed and was able to do a Postgraduate Teaching Certificate (specifcally endorsed by the Higher Education Academy)?

i got a 2:2, with a place onto a masters, and i'm wondering if possible i would get a similar offer, being able to do a phd after my masters!

must have applied early, having probably only started your masters, I suppose universities take into account your first degree, do most expect 2:1s, First, and is there anything else they would take into account (you know being that early on in a masters)?

I am enquiry if anyone who started a phd directly after a masters, with masters degree not being finished until September.

would universites offer you a studentship or would it be best to start the year after?

I have a place on a MSc Computing course, and wondering how many people do you normally get on a masters degree.

its in a medium city, so its not in a big city like London or Manchester.

My University (Lincoln) have introduced courses called MCOMP.

they are basically a 4 year undergraduate course, which includes in the final year, some elements that are taken for a masters course.

If doing the MComp Year would that be equalivent to doing a Masters?

And also would the funding work like undergraduate or postgraduate for some of it?

I am wondering if trying to change my degree to MComp, rather than finishing my Bsc and doing an Msc would be better.

Any thoughts helpful.

I am applying for a paticular masters course, and have an application form, it asks for 2 references, but justs ask me there name, address, email etc.

would I just fill then, and wait for the person to reply without first telling, I understand lectures are'nt allow to give you a bad reference, just tell them about you, as a student!
