I know the feeling. It makes you slightly despondant does it not that we all work so hard and have so much education, yet are so ruthlessly skint!
I wonder if postdoctoral will pay any better?

Argh still not finished my word count for today, this is like pulling teeth.

Hello all, had downed tools last weekend. Just completed my wordcount for the day but I am just so stressed atm.
Have u ever got completely disenchanted and just tried to avoid your supervisor. I have been doing this for the last month and a bit. But recently thanks to Joan and you guys I have really gotten back into it. So Im writing my conference paper and getting a bit worried that it wont be good enough and really feeling like I should b submitting something as soon as I possibly can (like last week) to somehow make my awolness worthwhile. Just generally feeling up against it, my own fault really...
Urgh stressful.

OKie dokie, wll I didnt get time to sign in and post some aims cos me internet is being silly but now its working, my progress today has been dubious but progress nonetheless.
I have continued exploring what exactly im trying to get across with my paper and have been working toward making it clear.
I have organised a research tour tomorrow round the site used for the production I will be talking about. So prime op for pictures and grilling the guides. How exciting a tour round a disused prison!
So im going to continue here tonight with my paragraph plan.

checking in for my evenings work, I normally start a bit earlier but I knew id feel terrible if I didnt get anything done today.
So tonight Im going to be
1.freewriting to find my argument for my conference paper and going into architect mode....
2.Trying to finish up my free writing for my second chapter.

a wee update then. my wee madam has got big and bad, was walking past the magazine rack yesterday in the shop, and my wee madam is on the cover of italian vogue, well not her exactly but a pug is on the cover, god help me it would appear my dog is trendy with the fashionistas. Is it wrong that that kinda annoys me, i just don;'t like this whole dog as fashion accessory thing. I also know that mine wouldnt put up with being put in one of those wee bags, plus shes a heavy lump lol!

Anyone else got a pet to avoid them getting woefully lonely and depressed?

I found networking sites are a bit better, myspace offers a browse option but facebook is also very good, you can read peoples profiles and send them messages etc without having something as serious as the internet dating vibe over the top of it.

it might not do any harm to refocus yourself. Although sometimes when you like someone you want them to think the best of you and you end up doing much better work to impress them and please them.
Although its not really an ideal situation it can just be the proximity.
Perhaps just try and keep it as profssional as possible so it wont affect your phd.

I think you should make some corrections to anything you think is fair and the bits u dont have a meeting with her about, and just say you dont understand her feedback. She may have been in a hurry and it will give her a chance to read your work properly with u there. I know its not ideal b ut it might be a good option.

well see i downloaded endnote and just found like the amount of things i had to fill in was unreal, i couldnt really understand how to work it . maybe im being a bit stoopid lol!

Hi all listen who can help me with some kind of program that takes she sheer awfulness out of references!
I have tried Endnote and its pretty exhaustive and im buggered if i can get it to work. Refworks seems to be quite unreliable.
Can anyone please tell me is there anything out there you have come across to help with this??

Well I have finished for the night, completed today I have:

1)written approx 3,000 words 5pages of my freewriting for my conference paper and i feel so much happier with it
2)written another 2,000 words on my second chapter, freewriting but I got loads of ideas generated and I feel much better.

Also on a rather side note I went to my slimming meeting today and I have lost 7 pounds wooo
its been a good day! Keep it up ladies and gents im gonna go eay curly wurly on my cross trainer lol

good plan lara, dont be worrying about not having it exactly done, understanding it better is so so much more helpful.

Push through it...Im half watching 10 years younger naughty me but after Im done Im going to be having a curly wurly!!!
