Hiya, I dont know how helpful this will be but it might be an option.
Project management has a lot of risk guides and rules, different ways of evaluating costing and proceeding with risk. Instead of a heavy psychology slant why dont you ground some of it in the facts and figures of risk analysis and all the models and modes of dealing with it. You can put a small section of psychology in after you lay the anchored framework.
It might be worth having a look at, sounds like theyre worried with you not having a psychology background a heavy amount of it in your PhD might not be advisable. Im sure u have already seen the risk management stuff but I just thought I would suggest it

Seriously my thesis has changed a lot since I started, general scope creep. But my supervisor has been great she has helped me focus on my strengths and even in my last meeting with her last week has shown me a way I can make my thesis stand out, how I can make my thesis suit me, im not a natural 'lets write an airtight 100,000 words' kinda person, but she has always championed my thesis and pushed me to present at conferences when I havent wanted to. She has genuinely been great and helped me when I have wanted to tear my hair out!
So I would say if you are comfortable and like your supervisor and theyre knowledgable thats most def half the battle. You could have a topic that interests you more than anything in the world and after a year naturally your enthusiasm starts to wane, if you have a good supervisor they will help keep you going and give you support. If you have someone whose work you respect, or are familiar with who is keen to be your supervisor, bite their hand off!

I dont mean to be a Scrooge but this year christmas is just escaping me. I live by myself and I work in my home office, now im trying to be really busy these days and although im going home for the holidays, i wasnt planning on putting up any decorations in my own house, cos I didnt really see the point. Am i the only Christmas non planner? I enjoy buying presents but as students we all know we dont get paid til later on in the month so christmas is kinda on hold till we get paid.

What about you all, is anyone seriously christmassy yet?

Hello all, I have been totally rubbish today havent done a thing. Thats very bad isnt it. I dont know at the moment Im just feeling very uninspired. Its all cold and horrid outside.
Have any of you even thought about Christmas yet? I havent even given it head space, was killing some time waiting on an appointment yesterday and did some wandering round the shops and its all christmassy there are loads of all these gorgeous decorations, and I just cant get in the mood for it at all. I would love to but really I dont much see the point, I usually think about it round the 20th and go out and grab some presents.
Thing is being a researcher youre often just working by yourself and quite often it takes the people surrounding you to get you in a christmassy mood. So im very non christmassy at the moment and I would love to be, but honestly its just more added expense decking the place out.
Any other Scrooges out there?

If you have a week and want to get it done in 2 days I dont see a problem. Get it structured and just write it. Most essays can be written up in a day if you have already done the resarch for them.

Dont worry about that. I like this place because of the honesty, people because they dont have to be themselves are more themselves, how very philosophic of me but you know what I mean. I think this place is for those of us who dont like being alone with our phd and need someone else to say go you or I know what you mean.

Well long thesis short Ruby its about how limen constructs on stage illustrate a physical and metaphorical transformation within the production. So essentially its all about how scenography interacts with space and production and maps on to a wider contextual place...lol. Bored yet?

omg phdbug totally download the jim dale audio books you see for travelling or even juswalking around they are brilliant because although it takes a bit of getting used to they are so relaxing and you become so used to being told stories when u walk about lol its like reverting to childhood. I have mine to amuse me wheim wandering round looking for books.

Ok Ruby I know what youre going through, no inane comments from me I get it. If it helps Im submitting sept and I totally have nowhere near half of mine done. But thats just the way I work. May I reccomend closing your eyes and pressing on your work to your second supervisor, as painful as it is its nice to get more feedback from others. I tend to go into hibernation and not talk to any other people in my department doing phds because they scare me with how much they say they have done. I need people to tell me how little they have done too to make me feel better lol.

Listen remember dont compare yourself to everyone else Ruby yours is very different and so what she has someone doing her formatiing thats just her fortune I suppose but most people dont. I think binding it and all will just make it look better, so that can be why she did that.

I know all about interdisciplinary, I have a humanities phd with theatre, phenomenology, anthropology and architecture all mixing through, trust me I know what a pain in the behind it is. You can only go at your own pace. I recommend putting big reminders in a different font or a different colour in the text saying things like 'second sxample picture to go here' I do that with production pics and pieces of chapters which havent been done yet. It helps because it shows you what needs to be done and where it goes and it shows whoever is reading it how it all comes together.

Dont panic ruby sweetie, do what you can do, dont compare yourself ok? And binding is just a bit of guilt its what inside that counts...where have I heard that before.

OOOOOh yes PhDbug, im a heckuva big one, not so big that I have a wand and robes but I would totally want to go to hogwarts. I just got the audiobooks read by Jim Dale which are amazing the guy does 147 different voices in Deathly Hallows hes in the guinness book of records for it. I have a bit of a thing for them, I have them on my ipod and they make wandering around in our normal world so much more interesting. How sad am I??? lol

I dont really have a diary at all per se, I love having one when I do but I use it for about a week and then no more. Ther thing thst I have found pretty beneficial for writing it having two docs open at the same time, one my 'proper writing' the other my free writing page where I write down everything I think of whist Im writing my chapter. Onto this page goes every thought I have on the subject, quotes I like and might use at some point, questions I ask myself to come back to at various points when I think of an answer to them. It is quite essentially a thought page, a version of dumbledores penseive where I remove everything in my head, to configure in some way shape or form.
