Well, MistaG I dont think there is anyone (else) in this forum that wont agree that women are in a better position than men. A man is always considered to have a job, otherwise he is incompetent. For the woman its not the same. Especially if she is cute. she just finds a rich man in the more developed country and thats it. Noone says "aah she is unemployed" or anything like that. People are more likey to feel sorry for her than have racist feelings. I do not like it either but it is the reality.

1. I talk about racism in england as an issue in general. I am not against someone in the forum. It hasnt happened to me because as a woman I am in a better position. You see for example, women from the eastern europe are considered cute and nice but men from the same countries who come here without a job are considered incompetent and from a disadvantaged background.

Yes, the forum should be consisted of people who share the same views and exchange compliments and compassion. But the world is not like that and a real forum cant be either! Why can't someone have a sayng here from an other perspective? I do believe that english are racists against greeks (and against most of the nations). So, why cant I express that in a forum? People here talk against religion, something that i am very sensitive about, but I shut up.

English people think that we greeks come from a third-world country, that we are corrupted, incompetent, that greek women throw ourselves to men to get things our way (in your case Athina, you show this interest to your supervisor to manipulate him in order to get all the benefits of a supervisor who has fallen for you).... that we are easy to get etc.

First of all I have enougof listening that "academics are like this and academics are like that, academia is a dirty place etc). People regardless of their profession, tend to use their power not always for the best of society. So I do not really understand why academia is any different and why academics are any different than other people who have power in any other domain (managers, politicians, religious leaders etc). And we all PhD students are just doing our jobs like everyone else does theirs. We have made it a whole issue "how to survive a PhD" since all we have all the benefits, flexibility, prestige or whatever you name it. Like in EVERY OTHER JOB!

Well, other people on the forum can give you an answer on that if they are honest enough....
