Most research assistant posts are for post-doc only (as they will work alonside the professor and have vast amount of knowledge in that area of research). The jobs you need to look for are research techicians , but you would need at least 1 year experience in that field , but it is a well-paid job.

That happened to me as well, what I did was copy the project details and put it in my own words with abit of extras showing your knowledge in the subject and that should be fine (It wouldnt take more than 20 minutes rather than you keep on thinking about it)!

So, what is the main benefit of your second offer compare to the one you already got.

1)If it is only down to a few more hundred pounds to the studentship , I wouldnt bother with it and just accept the first offer.

Try to delay the first offer as long as possible til you heard from your 2nd offer , that's what I did (but with two different universities)

I am sure the university will give you advice on how to translate the previous degree. It will cost money (as does everything , got my transcripts the other day and costed me £12 and waited for 3months)

Accept the first offer , then if you got an improve offer , accept that one

A masters is useful if you want to do a pHd in that field and want more experiences in reaserch . It is a must if you only have a 2.2 at your undergrauate degree

This funding is very pretigious and only offer to graduate who are most promising. Shani was spot on with the scheme /allocation of funding. Your supervisor/department only chooses the student with very good chance in gaining the studentship to complete . And Yes there are 100 studentship per year but it can also offered to the students who are currently studying a Phd . To apply, you would need at least a 2.1 undergrauate degree and 70% in the key subjects from your previous degree (e.g Biochemistry modules ) from a recognise university .

You would also need some experience in research, but it would be provided if you were chosen . To be honest , there are much greater chance in obtaining a studentship from Wellcome trust (but they are mostly 4 year course ). I would contact your supervisor on the day of the interview !

Salford University have a few computing Phd , JUST GO ON THEIR WEBSITE. I remember one was on video-gaming, funded as well (I wish I have done a BSc in computing now) , and the other ones was on software engineering !

If you can stand your supervisor for 20 minutes , there is nothing to worry about
