i lived in north wales for 10 years when i was younger so i prob will as may pick up basics quite quick (had to learn welsh til i was 14 (was still crap) although the word sglodion is my fave word, sounds cool and means chips

hey all im off to cardiff uni in 5 weeks, arghhhhhhhhh!!!!!! im gonna be doin my phd there so thought i'd foind out if anyone else was at this uni, maybe be less scary if i know a few people. so please, if you are arond tell me, little old me is very shy.........ok well sometimes i am. Matt

where abouts in the country are you doin your research hun?

i gotta backthese guys up, having started a phd previously and having to stop because it just wasnt right for me, i have to stress how important it is that you do the best thing for you. forget the idea of a job at the end. The phd itself will be like a job and if the job is relevant to one the the other project sounds v similar. you will be spending 3-4 years doing this so get it right from the start by doing the right project for you. apologies to make sound like doom and gloom but you will be better off looking out for yourself

its not the end of the day, and there are still some amazingly good phd's out there. if you are wanting to get into cancer research then there are many ways. Dr R Airley at liverpool john moores is very very good and has many links to guys the paterson institute. It may be a good idea to put in a prospective cv with her [email protected] i think. There are plenty of good phd still out there. Cardiff uni has a very good reputation also (i'm starting in october there). What i'm trying to say is i wouldnt give up yet.
