I don't think so, more that the mouse pad thing on my new laptop isn't as sensitive as my last one so I'm being a bit aggressive with it and pressing it about 4 times when I don't get an immediate response!

I'm working 5-9 today, or more like 7-11....time for another cup of tea I think. Reading and summarising a chapter at the moment.

Hi everyone - I'm only just starting now as had a busy morning of non-PhD stuff. Aiming to do 8 tomatoes today as I have to go to work later on. I'm working on a draft proposal that I have to send to my supervisors at the end of next week for my first review in mid-May. This PhD feels like it's going really quickly already, it's quite scary!

I will start by going through the numerous comments that my sups left on the last thing I sent them...could take a while!

I'm frequently an evening worker so I'll join you! It must be irritating for you to have your RA job taking over though, especially at the end. Do you do it Monday-Friday?

Also I bought one of those Lumie clocks a few weeks ago - love it! Are you still using yours?

Thanks, was too busy to reply the other day but in the end I sent it at 6pm and they haven't told me it was too late yet. Will try to stop worrying about the little things so much! Nx

Thanks for all the replies, in the end I bought myself a lovely pink Sony e-reader which I am finding really useful although it took me a while to get to grips with! My parents bought me a new laptop and Office 2010 for my birthday, originally I wasn't going to get one but as I've just started I thought it would be a good idea to get a new laptop at the beginning rather than the middle of my PhD, and I needed something a bit more powerful. Got a Dell inspiron and I'm really impressed so far, I'm all set up now!

This question probably sounds really mundane, but if you have an unofficial deadline with your supervisors, like to email them a piece of writing on a specific day for discussion in the next meeting - what time of day would you usually want to submit it by? I have a deadline today and should be done by 4pm but does that sound too late? They never specify times and we have a meeting next Wednesday so they probably won't read it until Monday anyway, and it is quite short. I'm probably worrying over nothing but this is my first little submission to them so want to get it right!

Sounds ok Sneaks, i've seen ill-advised used quite frequently and I suppose it's similar to that. I guess it's a more specific way of saying 'unsuitable'?

Wow - doesn't seem very far away at all, it must be kind of a relief to have a set date though?!
