No the scholarships are open to anyone, of any nationality. The only stipulation is that the students must be starting a PhD or a Masters course at a University which is listed on our FindAMasters or FindAPhD websites.

I know there's lots of you looking for funding (and from experience know how competitive funding is), so I wanted to let you all know about the 2015 FindAMasters & FindAPhD scholarships.

This year, the scholarships are bigger and better than before, with £12,000 worth of funding up for grabs. This includes a £5,000 Masters scholarship, a £5,000 PhD scholarship and four £500 runners up awards.

I wrote up my thesis last year and my supervisor suggested using bullet points to summarise the main findings in the introduction of each results chapter. I was actually quite against this, (I almost felt like I was telling people spoilers to each chapter! ), but I went along with it.

Neither of my examiners commented on it, and I think from an outsiders point of view it is probably a nice way to see the key findings.

So, from my experience it was completely fine, but I understand why you're questioning it as I did too!

I'm sorry that you're struggling with funding! It's a big decision to start a PhD without funding, so I completely understand your dilemma.

I just wanted to let you know that we have a PhD funding guide on our website here, which you might be helpful (it has links to research councils, charities etc. all of which might be able to provide you with some funding). There's even a section on 'PhD study without a scholarship' which might be worth a look at.

Also, FindAPhD have a £5,000 scholarship (and some runners-up prizes of £500) up for grabs, so you might want to enter into these too? Got to be in it to win it, as they say!
