ahhhhhhhhhhh the computer's antics last night ended up eating one of my papers after all. Now I am having to start from nearly scratch on this and I am not happy.

Consumer Watchdog for Train Ticket providers?
O

I cannot even say how furious I am. I rarely get mad about things, but this takes the biscuit!

I do try to just get on with things. Part of that probably comes from when I was working and doing the PhD--it was hard to find time for everything, and there was NO time to worry about getting on with it, I just had to. As for past habits, since I have just moved to another country, all is new. I am slowly making new friends in my new environment, but I think that takes time and the isolation of the PhD is no help. On the other hand, my focus on being in the UK to finish the PhD is just that and my priority is to work on it as much as I can so I finish in the best possible way!

Consumer Watchdog for Train Ticket providers?
O

I am soooooo furious. I have just had a really bad experience with an online train ticket provider, whose ( lack of)service has resulted in me having to purchase a last minute and much more expensive fare. I have tried to contact the customer service line for this company to get resolution, but three phone calls have resulted in three very disparate and unhelpful answers.

Is there a consumer watchdog that I can make a consumer complaint to regarding this problem? I have checked on the web and phoned a few places, but its hard to find out who the right body ( if any) would be to complain to. Perhaps I should make a call in to a soliciter and go that route ato determine if I have compensation claim. :-s

ENFP is one of I think 16 measures of a person's personality traits, based on a measure and description invented by Briggs and Meyers. It gives fairly detailed descriptors of a person's personality and how they act within certain environments, ie learning style. If you google this I think you can find some good information on it, if you are interested.

ENFP stands for--Extroverted, iNutitive, Feeling, Perception--which describe different personality facets.

Is anybody working tonight?
O

OK that is me done for the night, after a hair raising few moments when the computer seized up and my document that I have been working away on seemed to have been eaten....but all is well...I managed to coax the computer back into a working state and it decided I could have my document after all.

Is anybody working tonight?

me! I did not plan to be working tonight, but what with one thing and another, here I am. But it is productive and that is what matters, given the various deadlines staring me down!

It was a survey about cheese. I love cheese! And for doing the survey, I was given some cheese AND some coupons to Boots--that more than paid for my skin lotions!!! Just a silly little thing but it made my day!

Well, after a day of feeling worried about finances and the state of the US economy and the dollar, I decided to rein in my lean budget even further...so headed to the marketplace, I planned to look for all the bargains I could. The most costly item I would have to find was skin moisturizer, something I am in desperate need of having run out a few days ago. So I was stopped by someone who wanted to know if I would take a survey. Being curious, as I am interested in qualitative methods, I said yes.

Jo Jo!!! That is great progress and a lot of work and well done and I would say who cares if your hours seem irregular, if its working for you is all that matters.

I would own a cape.

Wow, Eddi, that IS really scary. Hope that you are doing OK now! I would not take this as a symptom of whether or not you are capable of doing a PhD, this could happen for all kinds of reasons and in all kinds of settings. What has your doctor said? Your supervisor?

Is anyone else getting really angry...
O

Well yanno if you think about it, the way that scholars used to dress in the long gown ( think of what people wear when they graduate) and the hood and so forth, it really looks like a cape. In fact, it would look better as a cape. So in a return to TRADITION, I am going to start wearing a cape around my university. Do you think the idea will catch on? It really is a sharp look for a scholar. I think the Scottish Widow is really doing a PhD.
