CS, I think you lack one thing: common sense

"Golf pro - ask your careers advisor for golfing opportunities with a PhD. I think 5 opportunities is sufficient to give you a flavour."

I think this is a particular weak response to the critical remark by Golfpro. And these five opportunities are rather weak examples and actually fail to give a flavour of anything.

Supervisor more than university reputation?

Yes. IMHO

Supervisor more than university reputation?
O

not true.

The supervisor is much more important. If he/she is unwilling to provide the necessary support/read drafts, etc., then you simply won't get a PhD. And it doesn't matter if Harvard Professor XY supervises you, a failed PhD hurts the same. Departments or the choice of university are only secondary with regards to PhDs, as you will find out soon.

Medical doctors doing a PhD?

why doing a PhD now? what's the motivation?

council tax and extensions

As long as you have a library card you are still a student. You need to get a letter from your university to confirm your extended student status and forward it to the council tax division. They can't know that you are still a student - hence the letter. Just tell them

Hi,

are you also afraid of apes/monkeys or similar animals. If yes, you should be afraid of yourself, i.e. the homo sapiens as we are not very different. Ok, we are wearing suits and glasses, eat with cutlery but we also kill other human beings for no logical reasons, think about sex and re-production most of the time, and are generally behaving like animals.

Come on, Paul McKenna really wrote a thesis, he was unaware of the status of the "university abroad" and Gill didn't get very far as she is not allowed to use the title anymore.

In the UK or within Europe, nobody gets very far with this kind of scam. Of course there is the odd black sheep but with the new legislation they are likely to fall on their face sooner rather than later.

I don't. But I display my achievements to the world. And will continue to do so.

"Jesus. Are you even aware how insecure this makes you sound? That you need constant validation from a title that no-one really cares about. From what you are saying, for you its not about the way you live, what you achieve or whose life you touch"

Insecure are you my friend. If I remember correctly, you feel depressed because of lack of status in society, lack of money, lack of girlfriend etc.

My greatest achievement SO FAR is the doctorate. As it was the most difficult one. I nearly quit a number of times during the PhD.

In the future, of course there might or might not be bigger achievements. I think it is clear that we are not talking about the really important things in life. this is just referring to career as the whole tread is more or less related to career. So please stop bullsh***ing me and implying that I don't know what is really important in life.

In terms of career the PhD is my biggest achievement and I am not trying to impress anybody than myself.

I will find you the link. But the word Doctor as well as its abbreviation Dr or Dr. is definitely protected. unlike the abbrev. MBA which is unfortunately not protected.

But if you try to apply to any business organisation with a doctorate from Belford Online University or similar, I am sure you won't get very far (apart from legal consequences you are likely to face).

You're wrong about the diploma mills. Due to new European legislation you can be fined and jailed for using dodgy doctorates. The institution must be accredited by the EU. And if I'm correct, the UK belongs to the European Union, and is thus affected by this legislation.
