It's been extremely quiet. Since I changed my username several times myself I'm getting confused with regard to missing individuals.
I think the ones who were there from the start (of my own PhD) are H (where is she?), JoJo, Juno, Mia/Sixkitten, Sylvester, DanB, Ann (very helpful user), Pea, Golfpro, ChrisRolinski, Athena (disappeared), MistaG, Shani, Corinne,Sara, fifi_role, fluffy_monster (or similar), Stu, and a few others. For me the first generation.

Now it seems that a different (more quiet) generation has taken over the forum. Or am I wrong?

why not do a DBA (Doctor of Business Administration)? You would then do one or two years of coursework and could specialise in your thesis on one aspect within human resource management.

Having said that, I wish you all the best of luck and the mental and physical strenght that is necessary to complete your studies. I had a few deep lows myself and I know how it feels to get up every day, working extremely hard, and not getting any closer to the goal. It's tough.

But seriously, you should try to finish it asap, because it will not only affect your mind, body and soul but also the people around you. What exactly is the problem, i.e. why are you still working on it after so many years? I assume you have all the data collected? If yes, then you could basically write down the thing in a couple of months, even if you are working at the same time.

I'm sure you agree that 8 years is an extremly long period of time, even for part time students.

8 years ago I was still in High School. 8 years ago, it was a different millenium!

And when you need more than 8 years to complete a PhD they call it "waste of life time" and "lack of focus". And I wholeheartedly agree.

I think your biggest problem aren't future publications but the inability to complete the PhD. Perhaps that should be the priority, not what other people publish.

If you don't get accepted to any masters courses in UK, try to do a so-called completion degree, just one semester of Undergrad studies and with a second class (upper or lower level) you can then progress to a Masters - self-funding provided.

Congratulations. As jradetzky said, go for it. Don't let anybody tell you that chances are slim with a third. If you don't get accepted at the best universities, just go for some less well-known institutions. Once accepted you can than get a distinction, if you work hard.

Unbelievable. Sylvester, you truly sound like my soulmate. It's 2.13am, I just ordered a double cheese pizza delivery, drank a bottle of coffee to stay awake and hope to pull now a nice all nighter to make up for this weeks procrastination. Funnily, I always thought that it's only the PhD which makes me do this, but even now I still find myself unproductive during the day and highly productive during the night.

Masters and Undergrad perhaps, but never heard about similar collaborative ventures for doctorates or PhD research.
