Well, Insomniac, I wouldn't really compare university students (who are usually in their 20s, grown up and adults) with school children needing tutorship. I think it's all about personal responsibility, I take personal responsibility for my inappropriate comments earlier and I think students should take responsibility for their learning at university in the first instance.

If there are problems, it's no problem to ask for help, but it seems like the original request was for the university exam period which would be too late anyway. Also, the original request focussed on a number of subjects which leads one to a number of further assumptions.

Justified or not, what I said is true. Many people come on this forum and ask for PhD students who could write coursework/assignments for money. It's actually more common than one might think and in 9 out of 10 cases the stereotype of the rich daddy/lazy daughter is true.

From my teaching experience I know also a number of real-life examples for that.

Anyway, please accept my apologies for my language earlier.

Gosh Jojo, I just have bad experience with this particular type of requests, especially if they try to offer "above-average" salaries. That has nothing to do with harshness, but as said above, this forum is not the right place for this type of requests.

Why does the student not ask a lecturer for advice or even better, start reading books and literature on the actual subject. "MBAs in humanitarian studies" doesn't exist. You probably mean Masters in humanitarian studies?

Just for info: An MBA is a general management qualification, preparing you for a job in business/management. Although some uni's offer specialisation pathways, it is generally acknowledged that it's a very general degree which prepares people who have already worked for a couple of years in a non-business area (e.g. engineering) for a job in the higher ranks of the organisation. It's like a crash course in business studies.

If you have a copy of the Publication Manual, just check the table of contents and look for citations. I'm sure they want the issue number to be displayed.

Alternatively, on Amazon, there are the "Concise Rules of APA Style" available for under £10, just in case you don't want to read the entire Publication Manual.

I assume he means American Psychological Association. I love the APA Publication Manual, although I'm not doing a Psychology PhD.

I think it's a good point to talk about the personal value of a PhD. But how on earth did you find this particular topic? Did you have a prior interest in elephants or did some professor offer you the project?
