It must be really horrible for you at the moment - I am waiting for the same to happen as my supervisors have no idea about the research I am doing.
BUT Do you do protocols in your meetings? If yes, it might be a good way to prove that they never said anything before; however, perhaps it worse while to check what they actually want. Ask for some details and do some google search whether it might be relevant. Perhaps they did not think that you would progress that fast and now see an oppurtunity to link your work to some very relevant stuff - which might help you in the end.

I don't know whether it works in your case but my supervisor told me this morning: a negative results is still a result.It might be really hard but if you look at it from another angel you might be able to say: the theory is wrong and I proved it!

basically you are allowed to ahve the car for 6month in the UK without registering it and proof is eg ferry ticket. Therefore you should be able to claim back your £100.
I luckily always have a ferry ticket ready as we go over frequently.

You got me all worried now. But it seems very strange as I asked (again) at the police station and they still said it is none of our business what you do with your car as long as it is insured and has MOT.
Astrid, did you have a green card (gruene Versicherungskarte)? Could you write some more details about for which offence you were charged?

I think I really should get a PhD for hanging around on the forum the whole time because
1) i enjoy it
2) i don't get frustrated about it
3) at least i know what i am doing

Therefore the liscense is no problem. Furthermore I did ask the police whether I have to register and the rule is only for "importing" vehicles. The rule about the six month does not apply either because as soon as you leave the country every approx six month you do not have it in the country for longer than this. The car is of course fully taxed, insured, MOT etc but other than that the police could not care less.
I think it is something everybody has to decide for themselves but as I am not going to sell the vehicle here I do not have to import it and thats that.

I completly get your point Otto, in no other country I know of it is possible to use a utility bill as a proof of identity; which makes everyone really scared of identity fraught BUT nobody does anything against it e.g. the debate about ID cards and how easy they are to fake???? sorry, I do not get this an utility bill is ok but nit an ID card. On the other hand nobody minds to get watched the whole time, give all their data to Sainsburys, TESCOS etc BUT make a big fuss about apparent bugs on the bins spying out the rubbish.
