PhD on London (living)

Hi I have spent 2 yrs at a Hall for lack of other options, and will continue to live in another hall for the coming yr. Advantages: all buills paid, affordable, other students around,. Disadvantages: smaller than a flat, and may not suit most people. Suits me fine for I have very little social needs!

Costs, for me comes to £112/week including bills etc for a single room (was ensuite these 2 yrs, now shared loo) and self catered, sharing kitchen with 5 others.

I use oyster (£36 per month for bus, and around £60 for tube and bus both)

Havent got any insurance or pension dreams! Dont get me started on how much I work to earn money to pay my tuition fees (international), I am sick of my own story, the forum here surely is! :-)

Good luck!

Try www.google.com. It is a search engine where you look for stuff.

I started it off for you before going to watch Antichrist (!) here is a prelim view.

peer review feedback samples
P

Hi guys

Anyone has an idea where I may be able to access some peer review feedback samples? i.e. to see what feedback looks like etc? I know Nature might have some available online, but social sciences, anything? or humanities would do as well..

best,

PBug (now off to cook chicken red thai curry in a sudden mode of culinary glee):p

What are the possible new and recent subjects that could be studied?

I won't have to put up with your nonsense anymore.

You Ecofin, have now made my day. With that last sentence on losses, I have now reached the miraculous world of epics and dramatic dialogues (or even monologues) and I am starting to wonder whether you should leave finance and migrate to other fields in the humanities perhaps (and then we are here to suggest topics..)

Are there Universities offering short summer courses in Finance?

Do you realise why your editing and chopping off the post is highly problematic for an archived discussion space where someone's response now looks hanging in nowehere?

Looking for a Ph.D. course in the future

You do not know what do do for your masters dissertation and are asking peopel to suggest topics, WHY on earth do you want to do a PhD? I would assume people who wanta PhD have some area of interest...

or maybe I am living in the BCs....

I have just finished writing 8000 words of crap in around 3 days. Hence, my advise is to ask this qustion to none other than yourself. Please don't ask us why. There maybe some kind soul around who may wish to explain to you the meanings of odd terms like 'personal preferences', 'research', 'thinking' and many similar such, but again, there may be none...

in other words, your question cannot be answered. Sleepy, you are funny :-)

What affects chances of completing PhD

i think the cool part to do a phd is to get the studentship to think, read, and write in the area that you are fond of.

By removing the 'word' which you apologised for, you've made the ones who objected look a bit silly! For other readers reading the archives/joining later in the thread wont have a clue! Anyway, onwards!

Thanks smoobles, well, not better really, pretty down still. I think this was a signal that I should slow down and I also think it will take me some more time to get back to my usual self!

5-day Diary

Hi I didn't get the Thursday and Friday bits here below.. ?? Anyway, trying...

Monday:

(1) My being in good health and all near and dear ones so too
(2) My having had the dearest darling of a granny who brought me up when parents pursued jobs and who till today, blind at at 86 is waiting for me to visit.
(3) My having a relentless ambition that lets me get up at least one more time than the number of times I fall.

Tuesday:

My grandest memory takes me back to the age of 17. AT 9.15 am, on a winter morning in 2002, when i carried my school flag as a 17 year old, leading a group of 1000 girls, as Head Girl, taking the oath at investiture, leading the march past and looking up into the blue sky, knowing my parents are there in the crowd of parents, holding the flag up so high, and thinking I couldn't ever be prouder.

Wednesday:

Future? I see myself looking into a future where I write. write and write. RAE? Publication files? No, just write, from my heart, for my subject, and discover new unanswered questions every time I feel I have answered my intellectual concerns.

To just write, write and write..

Sorry if I got this wrong Lara, at 1 am, but am feeling a little bit better than the last two days, and the last couple of hours. (I have been most unlike myself, not my usual forward-going, sometimes bossy and demanding self, but a weepy and slightly demotivated person).

PS: Just got these new signature quotes:

"If you only knock long enough and loud enough at the gate, you are sure to wake up somebody.”.. Henry Longfellow

"“It always seems impossible until its done.”.. Nelson Mandela
