Here's wishing everyone a Happy (anti or not) Valentines!!

The place where I live (yes, yes, I'm in a Hall..) has a big pizza and beer and comedian night planned with only singles allowed or something (couples allowed but...reluctantly I think...lol)

My own plans include doing my laundry after X days (x is unspecified as this is a public forum!), getting new shoes, getting a hair cut, taking a day off work and relaxing (by planning what I must get done tomorrow).

:-) :-)

what's up with everyone else, believers and non believers of the love saint?

urgent query

thanks eska :-)

The 350 words look great and I am not sure I should tamper over it once my co authot called in delightful (pat on the back!) and am thinking of leaving it at 350...

urgent query
P

Hi all,

deadline query!!! urrgghh

I am submitting for a conference (joint with a scholar) where I suddenly checked and saw that the Call for papers says submit proposals for papers...no word limit set

Now what we have is a 350 word abstract (detailing motivation, fieldwork, findings etc) plus usual keywords etc.

Is this okay? or do they by 'proposal' mean someting longer or different?

Anyone helllp...the deadline is here :-) and my scholar co author is away!

Which Specialization to opt for???

Yes, so for instance, this would be a better version (if writing this out wastes *your* time, reading your version wastes the *reader's* time)

Hi friends,

I'm in the 1st yr of an MBA. In the 2nd yr, I have to opt for a specialization. I'm confused as to what I should choose between Finance and HR. I like both of thse, but looking at the current situation, finance jobs aren't available. It's the same with HR. In my college, the salary package my seniors are getting for HR is low and their job profile is also not so good. I'm really very confused about my specialization. What should I choose to get a good job profile? Please reply. I'm waiting.

Anyway,

If this is a query from the UK, someone will come along who knows about your field. If it is a situation from India, i doubt this forum will be of help. The dilemma you mention, the programme structure etc, leads me to think this is an Indian situation. SO perhaps, a UK forum is not a very good idea?

Any Lawyers? Contractual type question!

i JUST booked rail tickets to wales and back, oh my god. My dad got me the tickets from another country, cos I dont have a credit card, only debit and they dont take it.

the tickets will come by post but the email doesnt say anything about the card holder etc. OMG if the ticket does ask for it, how can I produce my father from another country??

He wasn't even asked for his name or address etc while booking, just card details, but in any case I wont be able to produce the card with me.

This is pathetic!! I have an appointment and am wondering what i should do...:-s

HI there!

Yup gr8 idea to revive this! Updates...trying to chunk interviews into themes well into the night, stomach aching awfulllly badly (urrrgh!!!) but have a supervision tomorrow and really want to have the data in some shape. Got some good news. Won a 5000 pound scholarship offered by a research thinktank (with a huge list of deliverables by the way, so it's...well...)and have an encyclopaedia entry coming up soon...keep-busy-types.. Plus a paper with sup being abstracted off tomorrow, for a presentation on the other side of the ocean later this yr, so in all good going I guess...

Bad news: have done no reading at all this term. Started a new RA ship. that and all kinds of extra stuff so am just processing last terms reading. But did 15 interviews, hour long, plus some other data collection, so well..but seriously have read ZILCH. but I guess it's Ok! I'm happy!:p

pS: swetchha, chapter skeletons? I havent a clue what my chpters will look like...i still thinks its too early...though at my uni we need to have an idea of this in 3 months from now :-s

Who is the "Sir" here?

I am pretty sure this letter will not get you the response you want in here. This is mainly a place wehre students and some post docs hang around. Also you are unclear about whether you are looking for masters, phds, india, abroad...If you already have an MBA I am unsure what you want...If it is a PhD read through the threads here..otherwise, if you are loking for diplomas, or certificate courses, it may be ok to go abroad if your company sponsors you, or else look in india..all the management schools run short duration programmes, though I strongly doubt they ll take someone who already has an MBA.

Supervisor - Should I be concerned?
P

Sounds perfectly creepy. I have no issues about spending a lot of time discussing your research, intellectuals (students and profs) can often keep emailing replies discussing single sentence in a single paper, but that's hardly what the case is here. again, going for a coffee to mull over something...anything, your developing CV or your project, or discussing their research or your research: perfectly possible. But Iming late into the night on apparently nothing! NO. About commenting on visiting your folk: well, sups often keep an eye out over young students, to ask if they are well and if things are fine, or find out if they've recovered from an illness etc etc...but I dont know if asking you to stop visiting your folk is rational! They're your family, and you've every right to visit them as often you please :)

Good luck, and best!
